We can’t look away from this Wheel of Fortune mishap — and neither could host Pat Sajak.

On Monday night’s (May 27) installment, contestants Luidgi Altidor, Rufus Cumberlander and Cynthia King faced off in a toss-up puzzle under the phrase category, per Entertainment Weekly. With the following letters up on the board: _ _ N’ _ L _ OK AW_ _, Cumberlander guessed, “Don’t look away.”

Unfortunately, the correct solution was “Can’t look away.” However, under the impression that he had solved the puzzle, Cumberlander and his opponents rejoiced in a sweet (but too soon) moment that was eventually cut short by Sajak.

“No, no, no, no, no!” he exclaimed. “No! It’s not correct!”

Once they discovered that they were sorely mistaken, time shortly ran out, and they let out groans of frustration. In classic Sajak fashion, he had to chime in with a timely quip.

“Everybody’s congratulating everybody,” he joked, “and we get to keep the money!”

Nonetheless, as viewers can see in the YouTube video linked above and as reported by EW, Sajak still commended Altidor and King’s sportsmanship, telling them, “It was nice of you to congratulate him.”

We still have just over a week until Sajak bids farewell to Wheel of Fortune on Friday, June 7. Sajak’s successor, Ryan Seacrest, has expressed his eagerness to get behind the wheel, gushing to People last September that he “can’t wait to take over after the legendary Pat Sajak.” Still, he knows not to mess with the show that has cemented itself as a classic.

“With this game show, it’s such a success and has been for generations,” he told the outlet. “You don’t mess with it, just don’t mess with it. Just get out of the way, say ‘Good evening’ and let’s play.”

Wheel of Fortune airs on weeknights. Check out their website for your local listings.
