‘Live’s Kelly Ripa Stunned When She Can’t Recall Meeting Sarah Hyland On ‘All My Children’: “Did We Ever Have Scenes Together?”

Sarah Hyland and Kelly Ripa go way back — even if the latter can’t remember how they first met.

Ripa and Mark Consuelos sat down with the the Modern Family alum on this morning’s Live with Kelly and Mark, where Ripa couldn’t get over the fact that she had apparently met Hyland while working on All My Children — and simply couldn’t remember.

“I honestly don’t remember this — and I remember a lot of your young working life — but you of course, New York actors, you were on the soaps. You were on One Life To Live, and Another World, and As The World Turns, and All My Children!” Ripa told Hyland. “How… why am I… did we ever have scenes together? Did we ever work together?”

Hyland assured Ripa that she doesn’t think they ever had scenes together.

“We met in the common space with the food and stuff, because I was a really big fan,” she recalled. “And you were very nice, don’t worry.”

Ripa exclaimed, “I literally cannot remember this! And it’s wild to me.”

Hyland noted that the two met around 1999 or 2000, “so long ago.” When fellow All My Children alum Consuelos asked who her scene partner was, Hyland said she worked with Finola Hughes, and Live viewers got a glimpse of Hughes and a very young Hyland on the beloved soap opera.

Consuelos chimed in, “Doing a soap for a New York actor is like doing Law & Order, as well. If you haven’t done a soap, if you haven’t done Law & Order, you’re not really an actor.”

Hyland quipped, “Multiple Law & Orders as well, where you have to wait the five years before you can re-audition again.”
