Hallmark star Mamie Laverock‘s parents have shared an update regarding their daughter’s recovery after she fell five stories from a hospital walkway and “shattered” her body.

According to her family, the 19-year-old is “fighting hard” after undergoing multiple surgeries.

“Her body has been shattered,” they wrote in a GoFundMe update. “She has undergone two 11-hour surgeries with two doctors working on her, a three-hour surgery and another surgery today. We have nothing but gratitude for the doctors and nurses who have been exemplary in her care since May 26.”

They continued, “Mamie is ‘doing well’ comparatively to when she arrived. Doing well because she has survived these extensive surgeries.”

While Laverock is “enduring tremendous pain,” her family said she has not given up.

“We can only hold onto the miracles of each day and continue to thank everyone for their prayers and marvel at the miracles of her story,” they continued. “Our daughter loves her life and loves her family and is fighting hard.”

Laverock, who played a nursing student in Hallmark’s When Calls the Heart, was initially brought to the hospital for an undisclosed “medical emergency” on May 11, according to her GoFundMe. While she was showing signs of improvement after getting transferred to St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver, tragedy struck on May 26 when Laverock was “escorted out of a secure unit of the hospital and taken up to a balcony walkway from which she fell five stories,” leaving her on life support.

The actress has since been transferred from St. Paul’s to a trauma receiving center.

Laverock’s mother, Nicole Rockmann, recently told the Los Angeles Times that the fall was not “intended” and was not a suicide attempt, noting that there “will be accountability.” She confirmed that the family is planning to take legal action against the hospital in what they described as a “negligence-type case.”

“We have a case,” Rockmann said. “All we care about is that Mamie can make a recovery and that she’s alive and that she’s fighting and that she’s strong. It’s unbelievable that she’s with us.”
