As Hunter Biden begins his federal firearms trial, The View is weighing in, and even though many panelists are Joe Biden fans, they’re all for the president’s son heading to court.

Hunter has pleaded not guilty to three felonies, including lying to a gun dealer, falsely claiming he was not a drug user on his firearms application and illegally owning his gun for multiple days. He was previously facing a plea deal, but is now saying he is being “unfairly targeted by the Justice Department” after Republicans objected to the plea deal, claiming he was getting “special treatment” as Biden’s son, per the Associated Press.

On today’s show, Whoopi Goldberg mentioned Donald Trump‘s reaction to his own trial, which he has called “rigged.” Goldberg argued that if President Biden was really powerful enough to ensure a guilty verdict for Trump, then his own son would not be on trial right now.

“When we hear you-know-who say that ‘this is all set up by the Biden administration, they have all the power and they’re doing this to me’ … don’t you think if [Biden] had that much power, Hunter probably wouldn’t be on trial?” she asked.

Sunny Hostin immediately responded, “Of course, and I love that question because not only is Hunter Biden on trial showing that no one is above the law, President Biden has indicated if he is convicted, he will not pardon him. Because no one is above the law.

“And the other thing that I will say is, this is an interesting case. It’s a case about buying a firearm and lying on your application, saying that you have never used drugs,” she continued. “He was an active addict at the time. Some people argue that you’re always an addict, you live day-to-day.”

Hostin then broke down the stats in cases like Hunter’s, telling the panel that “less than one percent” of firearms cases are investigated.

“Guess what? Hunter is one of them. And I say, that’s how this country should be,” she said. “That’s how this country is supposed to work. I don’t have a problem with him being on trial.”

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
