Ross Mathews made a surprising confession on this morning’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show. According to Drew Barrymore‘s trusty co-host, he once showed up to a taping “so hungover” that he had to take a power nap backstage.

During one of today’s Drew’s News segments, the dynamic duo discussed a new survey claiming one in three workers nap on the clock. While 50% of in-person employees reportedly take naps in their cars, others get some shut-eye at their desks, in the bathroom and/or in company-designated napping places, to name a few.

The topic prompted Mathews to make a shocking (albeit hilarious) confession to Barrymore.

“I wanted to tell you when I read this survey — I’ve never admitted this to you but one time I took a nap here,” he said. “I was so hungover.”

A stunned Barrymore immediately keeled over laughing as Mathews continued, “We had gone out after the engagement announcement when I got engaged. Our friends took us out to celebrate and it was so much fun until I woke up the next day and I came here and we did the news.”

Once they finished taping the episode, Mathews said he went in the back “and just passed out.”

“Now my rule is one cocktail a night on work nights,” he said. “Never again. Don’t judge.”
