Bruce Willis‘ condition is still the “same,” according to his daughter Tallulah Willis, who made her television interview debut on this morning’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show.

In 2023, the actor’s family revealed that he was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, otherwise known as FTD. While talking to Drew Barrymore, Tallulah described it as a “really aggressive cognitive disease — [a] form of dementia — that’s really rare.”

The family has been open about Bruce’s condition ever since he retired from acting in 2022 following an initial diagnosis of language aphasia, which has since “rendered him incommunicative,” according to Moonlighting creator Glenn Gordon Caron.

“I think it’s two-fold. I think on one hand it’s who we are as a family,” Tallulah said of why they are “so open” about Bruce’s health. “But also, it’s really important for us to spread awareness about FTD.”

She continued, “If we can take something that we’re struggling with as a family and individually to help other people, to turn it around, to make something beautiful about it, that’s really special for us.”

As for how he’s doing now, Tallulah offered an update during her chat with Barrymore.

“He is the same, which I think in this regard I’ve learned is the best thing that you can ask for,” she said. “What I see is I see love when I’m with him. He’s my dad and he loves me, which is really special.”

On a lighter note, Barrymore recalled running into Bruce — who is two decades her senior — when he bartended at a club she went to as a child before he found fame.

“I remember your dad bartending at Café Central. When I was a kid going to clubs, I was around your dad!” Barrymore told Tallulah. “Everyone was in love with him. I’m lucky enough to have hung out with him and known him a little bit personally.”
