When Joy Behar tells you to put your foot on The View‘s Hot Topics table, you say, “Yes chef!”

On this morning’s episode of the long-running daytime talk show, the comedian bizarrely forced The Bear star Ayo Edebiri to show off her cute shoes — and playfully refused to give the actress her foot back.

It all started with a conversation about the evolution of Edebiri’s fashion, with the star telling the co-hosts, “I started in comedy … I wanted to hide my body — especially [when] you’re doing shows with a lot of dudes and a lot of spaces. I’m young. So I was like, big T-shirts [and] big jeans. That was kind of my uniform for a while.”

These days, Edebiri said she’s having fun playing with different “shapes and colors” when it comes to her wardrobe, prompting Behar to shout out the “adorable” outfit she picked out for today’s interview.

“I wish the audience could [see your shoes],” Behar said. “Can you put your foot on the table?”

Edebiri naturally obliged, putting her foot right into the longtime co-host’s hand.

“Isn’t this cute? It’s not even a shoe!” Behar exclaimed as she held the Golden Globe-winning actress’ foot in the air, describing the footwear as “basically a sock in a sandal.”

Sara Haines then demanded, “Release her!” to which Behar jokingly fired back, “I’m not releasing her.”

Even Whoopi Goldberg chimed in to compliment Edebiri’s wardrobe, telling the guest that she used to get made fun of for wearing something similar on her feet.

“I used to get hassled here on the show. People would complain and say, ‘You can’t wear heels and socks.’ Actually, you can,” she said. “Let ‘em laugh all they want to because next year they’re gonna be doing the same.”

Behar, for her part, is no stranger to slinging her feet onto the Hot Topics table. During a September 2023 episode of The View, she hilariously plopped her bare foot on the table for Matthew McConaughey to massage, much like he did during his 2006 appearance on the show. Earlier that same year, Behar hoisted her leg onto the desk to show off her heeled Gucci boots.
