Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 2 premiered exclusively on Paramount+ on June 6, and even though Season 1 serial killer Elias Voit (Zach Gilford) is behind bars, he’s still calling the shots.

In an effort to understand and catch the infamous Gold Star killer — or should we say killers — the skilled team of FBI criminal profilers you know and love are teaming up with Voit in hopes of cracking the case. Last week’s episode saw Voit refusing to assist the BAU until he saw his family. So his wife Sydney (played by Gilford’s IRL wife, Kiele Sanchez) reluctantly agrees to take their two daughters Holly (Allison Nordahl) and Harlow (Mia Coleman) to see him in this week’s episode, “Kingdom of the Blind,” premiering on Paramount+ Thursday, June 20.

In Decider’s exclusive Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 2, Episode 4 clip (shown above), you can get a first look at Sanchez’s character nervously confronting her husband for the first time since he was put behind bars. After watching Voit pace back and forth in his cell via surveillance monitor, Sydney sighs and tells A.J.(Jennifer Jareau) and Luke (Adam Rodriguez) to open the door. Within seconds, she’s standing face-to-face with the serial killer husband who blew up her and her daughters’ lives, and what’s the first thing this freaking guy does? He glances down at her hand and says, “You’re not wearing your ring.” No kidding, dude! Bet you can guess why!

After another fed-up sigh, Sydney cuts right to the chase and asks Voit if he knows why she’s there. “Yes. They told me you want to go over what I’m going to say to the girls,” he says, and without missing a beat, Bridget replies, “That’s right. So what are you gonna say to them?”

“The truth,” Voit says.

And with that, we’re left to wonder which version of the truth he means exactly…

Paramount+’s full synopsis of “Kingdom of the Blind,” directed by Joe Mantegna, is as follows: “The BAU is faced with more Gold Star killing with the same gruesome M.O. Elias Voit says goodbye to his family. Prentiss wrestles with the fallout of her run-in with Brian Garrity. Garcia hacks the cloned phone brought in by Tyler Green.”
