The show will finally go on. After more than a year of waiting, Paramount Network announced today that Yellowstone will officially return with new episodes on Sunday, Nov. 10.

The exciting news comes on the same day that Yellowstone first premiered in 2018. The show follows the Dutton family, who controls the largest contiguous cattle ranch in the United States, as their property is in constant conflict with its borders, which consist of an Indian reservation, an expanding town and America’s first national park.

Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2 — which is currently filming in Montana — will premiere exactly two years after the first part began airing on the network. However, the new episodes will be noticeably missing one key player: Dutton family patriarch John Dutton, who was played by Kevin Costner in the first four-and-a-half seasons.

Rumors of a feud between Costner and showrunner Taylor Sheridan began circulating shortly after Season 5, Part 1 wrapped in January 2023. But Costner recently said his exit was due to production delays.

“We very rarely started when we said we would and we didn’t finish when we said we would,” he told GQ in May. “And I was okay with that. I really was. I was okay with it, but it wasn’t a trend that could continue for me.”

Costner said he offered multiple solutions so that he could film both Yellowstone and his upcoming movie Horizon: An American Saga Chapter 1. But when negotiations took too long, he was left with only one week to film Yellowstone — and there were still no scripts.

“The scripts never came. And so then at one point, they said to me that we don’t have an ending or anything,” he said. “I said, ‘Well, if you want to kill me, if you want to do something like that,’ I said, ‘I have a week before I start. I’ll do what you want to do.'”

We’ll just have to wait until November to learn John Dutton’s fate!

Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2 premieres on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Paramount Network.
