Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos were were not live on air last week, and while they were away, the couple spent some time in Geneva, Switzerland. During today’s (July 1) episode of Live With Kelly and Mark, Ripa chatted about their trip and explained that while she was impressed by all the beautiful attractions the city had to offer, like Lake Geneva and the city’s famed Ferris Wheel, she was perhaps most excited by what she saw on her flight: a pair of adult twins.
Ripa has discussed her fascination with adult twins in the past, but today, Consuelos insinuated that it may be more than an obsession, that it’s “almost a fetish.”
Due to Consuelos’s work schedule, the married couple flew to Geneva on separate flights, and Ripa explained excitedly that, even more exciting than musician John Mayer being on her flight, she was awestruck that “adult twins were not only on our flight, but at my hotel.”
“I was so excited, and one of the twin’s daughter, with her daughter, came up to me and she’s like, ‘We watch your show every day,’ and I go, ‘I’m obsessed with adult twins!’ and she goes, ‘They know.’ They played it so cool, though!” Ripa recalled.
“I couldn’t get enough of the [adult twins]!” she added. “Every time I saw them, I pointed them out.”
Later, during the Stump Mark segment of Live, a woman named Wanda called in and told Consuelos one fact about herself and one lie, and Consuelos had to guess which statement was true and which was false. This brought everything back to the twin conversation, because Wanda’s true statements was, “My father is an identical twin and he and his brother married sisters.” Upon hearing this, Ripa gasped.
Consuelos told Wanda, “I think you know that Kelly’s obsessed –—it’s almost a fetish — with identical twins. There are a few restraining orders out there right now.” He then guessed that Wanda’s false statement, which was that she has Charlton Heston’s autograph, was the true one.
“You are wrong, Mark,” Wanda told him, at which point Ripa exclaimed with glee, “Never bet against twins! Nobody lies about being identical twins!”
