Things got frisky for Kelly Ripa at the airport — and not with Mark Consuelos.
On Live with Kelly and Mark this morning, the two co-hosts warned those planning to fly over the 4th of July weekend to “plan accordingly,” as “the TSA is expected to screen more than 32 million folks” from June 27 until July 8.
Consuelos, who has previously regaled Live viewers of his airport habits and experiences, urged flyers to “think about all the people behind you” prior to going through the metal detector. After Consuelos rattled off some items — such as your wallet, phone, and water — that you shouldn’t bring with you through the metal detector, Ripa added, “And your guns.”
Pointing to his biceps, Consuelos quipped, “Not these,” earning him a round of applause from the studio audience.
While Consuelos teased that he gets “stopped all the time,” Ripa exclaimed, “Do not encourage him, you enabling people!”
After Consuelos eventually told viewers to “not joke around about that,” Ripa noted that she always “wear[s] the same outfit” when she travels.
“It’s my travel outfit,” she explained. “Why? It doesn’t beep.”
After Consuelos teased that she “look[s] like a cat burglar” in said outfit, Ripa argued that her travel outfit is “tried and true” and is “not superstitious.”
“And yet, in Switzerland, I got beeped,” she recalled. “Then I had to remove my shoes. And I was like, ‘Why? They’re sneakers.’ Anyway, shoes off, beeped again.”
Ripa revealed that they “wanded” her and she “got frisked,” prompting Consuelos to joke, “I said, ‘Check her again.'”
“Check her again. Take her backstage,” he quipped.
Ripa reiterated that she “got frisked,” teasing that “it was a gentle frisking” and that “it’s like a sleight of hand trick.”
“So they’re frisking me, and I was like, go for it,” she joked. “Go all the way for it. Second base. Anyway. We got to second base, we exchanged phone numbers for later.”
In terms of what caused Ripa to get “beeped,” she said “there was nothing.”
“It was like a random beeping,” she added.
