Jenna Bush Hager Calls Hoda Kotb Out For Committing The “Houdini” And Driving Off From A Party With Her Purse: “She Has All Of My Personal Belongings!”

You’ve heard of the Irish goodbye, but have you heard of the Houdini? Jenna bush Hager called out her Today co-host Hoda Kotb after she explained why she prefers leaving parties without saying goodbye, a move that Bush Hager called “the Houdini.”

Kotb told viewers she was “the goodbye skipper,” saying, “You know why? They leave without a word. One minute you’re talking to them, one minute — poof — they’re gone.”

Bush Hager interjected to add, “One minute you’re talking to them, one minute they’re driving off with your purse in their car.”

Kotb began to laugh as she recalled that memory. “Oh yeah, I’ve done that, I’ve done that for you. You’re like, ‘Is Hoda still here?'” she said.

Bush Hager continued, “They’re like, ‘Hoda’s left,’ I’m like ‘What? She has has all of my personal belongings, how am I supposed to call?’ I’m like, ‘Can you call Hoda?'”

But Kotb had her reasoning. “Number one: It’s a big party, nobody’s really paying attention. It doesn’t really matter, it’s not like it’s their 50th birthday party, it’s just a party,” she explained.

After Bush Hager noted that Kotb “would do it at their 50th birthday, too,” Kotb replied, “Probably! I just think it’s better instead of making a big to do out of goodbye.”

Bush Hager, on the other hand, is known for keeping the party going. “If I could be you, I would be you,” she told her co-host. “I’ve been practicing really hard but it’s not easy.”

This comes as no surprise considering Bush Hager has been referred to as the party “ringleader.” Kotb revealed during a broadcast last December that Bush Hager kept the Today Show holiday party going well after people began leaving.

“I heard from sources that they said, ‘Let’s get the check.’ It was late, and sources say that you said, ‘One more round!’” Kotb said.

Bush Hager later admitted that this was true, though she called Kotb out for leaving early. She said Kotb did what Hoda does best” and left the party early because she “needed to get home.”

 “By the way, we were still home by 7 p.m.,” she told Kotb.
