Travis Kelce Explains Why He Turned Down A Netflix Series Offer

It looks like Travis Kelce is putting his TV days behind him.

Kelce revealed he turned down the opportunity to appear in Netflix‘s new show Receiver during a recent appearance on the Bussin’ With The Boys podcast. The new reality show, which is set to premiere July 10, follows five of the NFL’s best catchers. The Netflix series is a spin-off of Quarterback, which featured Kelce’s teammate Patrick Mahomes.

“After Pat did it, I did get asked about it. I don’t know. I’d rather just play ball, man. I’m already doing enough with the podcast and everything,” Kelce said.

He added, “I’m way over the reality s—. I’m out on that s—.”

Kelce’s statements may come as a shock considering the NFL star is set to host a Prime Video spin-off of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? He is also set to appear in Ryan Murphy’s new horror drama, Grotesquerie.

The Chiefs tight end may be turning away from reality TV, but he recently announced that he’s still on the market for more “movie deals.”

Kelce announced this during a recent episode of the podcast he hosts with his brother Jason Kelce, titled New Heights, when they addressed a fan theory that he had recently been cast in Happy Gilmore 2.

“I didn’t even know there was a job opening for Happy Gilmore 2, but if there is, I’ll be a fucking extra,” Travis joked. “You know, anything to get around Happy Gilmore or [an] Adam Sandler film or set, count me in.”

He later denied that he had been cast in the movie, though he certainly appeared open to the opportunity.

Jason noted that “there’s really no evidence to support this” rumor, prompting Travis to interject and add, “Other than the movie is getting made and I’m looking for movie deals.”

Travis maintained that he would “do anything in the movie” — even if it means playing a caddy.

While it looks like we won’t be getting another season of Catching Kelce any time soon, the NFL star likely has a bright future in film ahead of him.
