Actor Mike Heslin has died. He was 30.

His husband, Scotty Dynamo, born Nicolas James Wilson, took to Instagram on Saturday (July 6) to share that Heslin had died July 2.

Dynamo wrote that Heslin had “passed away from an unexpected cardiac event after a week long battle in the hospital,” per The Hollywood Reporter.

“Michael was young, in perfect health, and the doctors have no explanation for what happened,” Dynamo said.

Heslin is known for his work in Special Ops: Lioness, the Paramount+ thriller series created by Yellowstone mastermind Taylor Sheridan. The late actor appeared in two episodes as Polo.

He also created, wrote, directed, and acted in The Influencers, a five-episode-long comedy series following six social media influencers competing for a brand deal.

Other TV credits of Heslin’s include 7 Deadly Sins, Younger, I Love You… But I Lied, House Sitting, and In Their Shoes: A Journey Into Homelessness.

Most recently, Heslin acted in The Holiday Proposal Plan, a Lifetime holiday movie that was released in December 2023.

Dynamo, who tied the knot with Heslin last November, praised him as “brilliant, selfless, talented, and a real-life guardian angel” who “single-handedly carried [him] through multiple rounds of cancer.”

“He was the first person everyone would call to share good news with, and he was the perfect person to call if they needed a shoulder to lean on or the best advice,” he continued. “He truly was the sweetest, most caring, and loving man on earth, and he brought out the absolute best in everyone who had the pleasure to cross paths with him. He moved through life with such ease and confidence, and turned everyone around him into a better version of themselves.
No matter how difficult things got, we knew that there was nothing we couldn’t overcome with Mike in our corner.”

Dynamo shared that they “were in the early stages of starting a family” only a week prior, and that they “would regularly share our favorite baby names for [their] future kids.”

“You always told me that you felt like you were meant to be a dad, and I couldn’t agree more,” he wrote. “You would be the world’s most perfect father. If I ever become a dad, I am going to name my son after you and hope that I manage to raise him to become at least half the man you are.”

Describing Heslin as “the most generous and giving person,” he explained that Heslin gave “the gift of life to four different families” through being a donor.

Several actors sent their condolences in the comments section of Dynamo’s post, including Younger star Dan Amboyer and Boys and Girls actor Eric Rutherford.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Dynamo recently shared the link to a GoFundMe campaign titled “In Memory of Michael Helsin” to raise money for “hospital and funeral costs,” and to “provide support to Nic and the Heslin family in this time of upheaval and change.” As of publication time, the page has raised over $62,000.
