George Clooney has joined the growing list of high-profile Democrats calling for President Joe Biden to suspend his campaign.

The Hollywood actor wrote in a New York Times op-ed that his political party is “not going to win in November with this president,” predicting that Democrats will also lose the House and the Senate if they keep Biden on the ballot.

“This isn’t only my opinion; this is the opinion of every senator and congress member and governor that I’ve spoken with in private,” he said. “Every single one, irrespective of what he or she is saying publicly.”

Just last month, Clooney co-hosted a star-studded fundraiser that raised a whopping $30 million for Biden’s campaign. But even at the event, Biden displayed questionable characteristics, according to Clooney.

“It’s devastating to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fundraiser was not the Joe ‘big F-ing deal’ Biden of 2010,” he said. “He wasn’t even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all witnessed at the debate.”

Clooney expressed concerns over Biden’s age and ability to beat Donald Trump following his disastrous debate performance, which the White House has repeatedly blamed on the President’s cold and jet lag.

“Our party leaders need to stop telling us that 51 million people didn’t see what we just saw,” Clooney wrote. “We’re all so terrified by the prospect of a second Trump term that we’ve opted to ignore every warning sign. Is it fair to point these things out? It has to be. This is about age. Nothing more. But also nothing that can be reversed.”

In response to Biden’s attempt to reassure voters via his televised interview with George Stephanopoulos, Clooney said their sit-down “only reinforced what we saw” at the debate.

“As Democrats, we collectively hold our breath or turn down the volume whenever we see the president, who we respect, walk off Air Force One or walk back to a mic to answer an unscripted question,” he added, referring to Biden infamously tripping up the stairs of his plane and giving incoherent responses to reporters sans his teleprompter.

Clooney further called on top Democrats like Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi and Hakeem Jeffries to ask Biden to “voluntarily step aside,” despite the POTUS declaring that he won’t be going anywhere.

“Would it be messy? Yes. Democracy is messy,” Clooney said. “But would it enliven our party and wake up voters who, long before the June debate, had already checked out? It sure would.”

The Oscar-winning actor also spent some time praising Biden, noting that he loved the politician as a senator, a vice president and president. And while he wrote that Biden has “won many of the battles he’s faced” in the last four years, he cannot win the “fight against time.”

“Joe Biden is a hero; he saved democracy in 2020,” Clooney said. “We need him to do it again in 2024.”
