Hoda Kotb has become known on Today as the resident “sex guru” due to how open she is about her love life, but even she was shocked to learn that some viewers believed she and Kevin Costner were flirting with each other when the actor visited Today last month.
She first addressed the rumors during a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live, where she coyly teased, “Well, if the viewers want it…”
But on Today With Hoda & Jenna, Jenna Bush Hager told Kotb, “People were coming up to me in the streets, people were like, ‘You should set up Hoda and Kevin Costner.’ And I was like, wow, I didn’t realize they were flirting behind my back.”
After Kotb denied that she had been “flirting” with the actor, Bush Hager queued up a slow-motion montage of moments from the interview where Costner and Kotb appeared quite smitten with each other, backed by some romantic jazz.
“Y’all are ridiculous!” Kotb exclaimed as she watched the montage. It showed her playing with her hair while speaking to the actor as well as a hug they shared at the end of the interview. “Y’all are ridiculous! The slow-mo-ing and the music really helped.”
The actor visited Today to promote Horizon: An American Saga, the Western drama he self-financed.
But Kotb had some fond – if somewhat bizarre – memories from her time with the Yellowstone actor.
“I did love when he had his people here and they were just talking about him, they were saying he is so funny,” she recalled. “They were describing like he likes to eat baked beans out of a can. He’s just a regular person.”
Bush Hager replied, “The baked beans out of the can is what turned you on?”
Kotb laughed as she responded, “No, I liked that he wasn’t fancy. I thought that was really cool.”
While Kotb was impressed by his fun fact, Bush Hager appeared to be grossed out.
“Does he heat the creamed corn or he heats it cold?” she asked. “All I know is I’m gonna reach out to him later today.”
