While our favorite Hollywood stars may seem like they couldn’t be any more different from us, it turns out we all have one thing in common: obsessing over our favorite celebs — and Moses Ingram is no different.

In a panel held Wednesday night (July 11) at the Paley Center for Media, featuring Lady in the Lake actresses Ingram and Natalie Portman, plus director Alma Har’el and moderater Brittany Jones-Cooper, Ingram revealed that she was in awe of getting the chance to work with the illustrious Portman on the new Apple TV+ show.

“When I first came on [the show] and I was sort of getting a feel for what it would be like, Alma and I sat outside at the pool one of the days,” Ingram told Cooper. “And she pulled out her phone and she showed me the sizzle reel, which are a lot of the clips that are actually in the trailer now, and I remember watching it, thinking “Oh my god, oh my god. That’s Natalie Portman!”

She continued, “And I think it just is overwhelming, but in a really beautiful way. You just want to rise to the occasion of what’s happening. I don’t want Natalie Portman disappointed in me! It definitely is one of those things where it’s like, you just kind of go with it. You just go with it.”

Portman boasts three Academy Awards, including a win for Best Supporting Actress in 2005 and wins for Best Actress in both 2011 and 2017. Meanwhile, Ingram was nominated for an Emmy in 2021 in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series category for her work as Jolene in The Queen’s Gambit.

Lady in the Lake marks Portman’s first ever role in a limited series. During the panel, she called the transition from film to television acting “a marathon compared to a sprint.”

Throughout the remainder of the panel, the stars and director spoke about the unique challenges they faced on the film set, including Portman juggling being a leading lady while also executive producing. The trio also discussed the meaning behind filming in Baltimore — a place that holds personal meaning for both Portman and Ingram.

Lady in the Lake premieres July 19 on Apple TV+.
