When The View kicked off this morning, we were met with the familiar faces of Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin, Sunny Hostin and Ana Navarro. But one key player wasn’t at the Hot Topics table: Whoopi Goldberg.

As the ladies settled into their seats, it was clear that Behar would be taking the reigns as today’s moderator, while Navarro was brought on to fill the empty spot at the table — a position she typically assumes on Fridays when Goldberg is off and Behar fills in as moderator.

Her absence certainly didn’t slip past loyal View fans, who quickly reacted to the surprising news that one of their favorite co-hosts would not be on-air today.

“Where’s Whoopi ?! It’s not Friday,” one fan asked on X.

Another noticed, “Whoopi’s not there! On a Thursday! #TheView”

One more View fan tweeted, “Whoopi isn’t here today?! Ugh. Thank God for Ana though. #TheView.”

So, where is Goldberg? When will she be back on The View?

We have answers! Keep reading to learn more.

Why Is Whoopi Goldberg Not On The View Today?

Goldberg is missing from this morning’s episode of The View because she unfortunately contracted COVID-19. Behar shared the news this morning, telling viewers, “You might have noticed Whoopi’s not here, because Whoopi has tested positive for Covid.”

She added, “You know, it’s going around still, so you have to be careful,” as Hostin chimed in, “They’re calling it a summer surge.”

Golberg has contracted COVID-19 multiple times over the last few years, and even missed the Season 27 premiere of The View while sick with the virus. We’ve got our fingers crossed for a speedy recovery for her!

When Is Whoopi Goldberg Back On The View?

It’s hard to say exactly when Goldberg will return since it’s dependent on how she feels and when she’ll test negative for COVID-19, but we expect her to be out for at least the remainder of this week. Since she was on the live show yesterday and appears to have tested positive for the virus between Wednesday’s show and today, she’ll likely be out into next week, as well. A person infected with COVID-19 can be contagious for about 10 days, which would bring Goldberg to Saturday, July 20.
