Kumail Nanjiani came to George Clooney‘s defense Thursday (July 12) on Jimmy Kimmel Live after Donald Trump criticized the actor for weighing in on the presidential election.

Clooney penned an op-ed in The New York Times this week formally asking President Joe Biden to step out of the race amid growing concerns of his mental aptitude. In response, Trump essentially told Clooney to butt out, writing in a Truth Social post, “Clooney should get out of politics and go back to television. Movies never really worked for him!!!”

Trump’s statement left Nanjiani absolutely gobsmacked. “I’m sorry, what?! Movies never worked out for George Clooney? The world famous movie mega star?” Nanjiani said on Live last night. “His movies have made more than $3.5 billion in the box office. You know who movies never worked out for? Donald Trump.”

Trump’s IMDb lists over 30 acting credits, including his famous cameo in Home Alone 2. But there was one credit that may shock even the biggest film aficionados.

After pointing out that Trump “blew” his “one-second cameo in Home Alone 2,” Nanjiani added, “Trump also shat the bed so badly in the 1994 Little Rascals movie in the role of Waldo’s dad that this is the first time you’re hearing of it! That’s right.”

He then poked fun at Trump’s alleged relationship with the late sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.

“He killed The Little Rascals franchise like it knew the details of his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein,” he said.

Nanjiani continued defending Clooney against Trump’s petty attacks.

“Of course, the big difference between George Clooney and Donald Trump is that George Clooney actually made money from a casino,” Nanjiani joked, referring to Clooney’s star-studded Oceans franchise.

But the stakes of the situation are not lost on Nanjiani, who pointed out: “It’s crazy the election of 2024 could be decided by the Sexiest Man Alive of 1997.”

This is the most Nanjiani could say about the presidential election. He purposely gave a milquetoast opinion on Biden’s age on Live to avoid getting hate, playfully telling viewers, “Please don’t be mad at me.”

Jimmy Kimmel Live airs weeknights on ABC at 11:35/10:35c.
