The View is coming under fire for Ana Navarro and Joy Behar‘s remarks about the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump over the weekend.

Navarro kicked off her speech this morning by noting that she’s “very happy” Trump is safe and that she condemns “all forms of political violence.” However, she also raised a point about gun violence in America — and the stereotypical profile of those we often see commit mass shootings.

“I also need to say I hope that at some point in this country, we do have a conversation about what is happening. Because we cannot just react when it is our side,” she said. “What was this again? It was a 20-year-old, lone-wolf, white, wack job with easy access to a gun. And we have to have a conversation about that.”

Navarro continued, “It wasn’t a drag queen. It wasn’t an immigrant. It wasn’t a pissed-off liberal woman. This keeps happening. And we need to react — not as left or right, not as Republicans or Democrats, we need to react as Americans.”

Behar, for her part, said the alleged shooter should’ve been flagged when he reportedly bought “50 rounds of ammunition” hours before the rally.

“A 20-year-old white guy. We’ve seen that many times now. Young, white men with guns,” she said. “And nobody reported that he bought 50 rounds of ammunition?”

Following the episode, angry X (formerly known as Twitter) users called on ABC to cancel The View, claiming that the co-hosts failed to recognize their own part in spreading criticism about Trump.

The View is the current Jerry Springer Show,” one wrote. “People only tune in to see stupid people saying stupid stuff. The difference is that the Springer Show was honest about what it was. The View tries to sell itself as intelligent discourse.”

Another added, “Are you guys for real right now? You have called him Hitler, you have had celebs ‘joke’ about murdering Trump’s supporters…you bash this man and his supporters on a daily basis. You have had politicians on your show bash him and his followers it’s went too far now.”

A third person said, “A former President and leading Presidential candidate had an attempt on his life this weekend (largely because of the hate spewed on The View and other programs like it) and the women of this panel decide to attack white people? This divisive show should be pulled from air.”

Others were quick to fire back at critics in the comment section.

“Are Trump fans too stupid to realize they don’t have to watch The View?” one wrote. “Why should it be taken off the air just because Trumpers don’t like it?”

Another said, “All these MAGA dorks in the comments trying to blame the media & outlets they don’t care for as a narrative for the shooter. I doubt this 20-year-old even watched The View or any media. Majority of you just want to target anyone because you’re so desperate.”

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
