The 2024 Major League Soccer (MLS) season is just a few weeks away, and luckily for MLS fans, MLS Season Pass on Apple TV is back and sign ups are now open.

Every MLS game (including preseason) through the end of the season on October 19 will be available to watch on Season Pass, a streaming service dedicated to the league. The playoffs are scheduled to run from mid-October through the MLS Cup on December 7, and those matches will also stream live on MLS Season Pass.

Major League Soccer saw a major (no pun intended) shake-up last season, when, in June 2023, Lionel Messi left Paris Saint-Germain and signed with MLS’ Inter Miami CF. One of the best players in the world, Messi’s impact was immediately felt when Inter Miami went on to win the in-season Leagues Cup tournament — their first title in club history.

Ultimately, though, the MLS Cup — the trophy awarded at the end of the playoffs — went to the Columbus Crew.

Whether you’re a longtime fan or just now getting into soccer (maybe even thanks to Apple TV+’s Emmy-winning soccer comedy, Ted Lasso!), there’s a lot of value in MLS Season Pass.

Between special pricing for Apple TV+ subscribers, no regional blackouts, and an exclusive show that’s essentially the MLS equivalent of NFL RedZone (with a Spanish-language equivalent, new for this season), it’s a worthy investment.

Since the service is new to this season (and you may find yourself wanting to tune in for the first time ever thanks to Messi), we figure you might have some questions. The good news is we have answers. Read on for everything you need to know about MLS Season Pass.

What Is MLS Season Pass?

MLS Season Pass is a streaming service that streams every game of the MLS season. The service, which requires a separate subscription, exists within the Apple TV app following Apple’s 10-year, 2.5 billion dollar purchase of the Major League Soccer streaming rights. It debuted at the beginning of the 2023 season and is back for a second season ahead of 2024’s kickoff.

In addition to every regular season MLS match and the playoffs, MLS Season Pass will also include MLS NEXT Pro and MLS NEXT matches, every game of the in-season Leagues Cup tournament (where MLS teams will face off against professional teams from the Mexican Liga from mid-July to mid-August), and a live “whip-around” show that bounces between games so you never miss an exciting moment or a big play (broadcast in English and Spanish).

MLS Season Pass has a team of 80 multilingual on-air personalities that will serve as match analysts, play-by-play announcers, and studio analysts. Together, they’re one of the largest groups of on-air personalities for a single sport.

The price of MLS Season Pass depends on your Apple TV+ subscription status. While you don’t need to be an Apple TV+ subscriber to sign up for MLS Season Pass, you will get a discount if you are.

MLS Season Pass costs $12.99/month or $79/season for Apple TV+ subscribers and $14.99/month or $99/season for those without Apple TV+. You can sign up for MLS Season Pass by heading to the MLS Season Pass landing page, making an Apple account (if you don’t already have one), and entering your payment information.

As a reminder, Apple TV+ costs $9.99/month, and is home to Apple originals, including Ted Lasso, Masters of the Air, The Morning Show, and more (including a number of new original shows and movies premiering this year).

Does MLS Season Pass Have A Free Trial?

MLS Season Pass currently does not offer a free trial.

Are There Regional Blackouts On MLS Season Pass?

No! When they say every game, they mean every game.

Unlike most other sports streaming services, your location won’t impact your ability to stream your local team’s games, even if your local cable networks carry them.

Can I Watch Any MLS Matches For Free?

Occasionally, MLS Season Pass will offer a few free games. You won’t even need an Apple TV+ subscription to watch the free matches in the Apple TV app — a regular, free Apple ID is enough.

To find out which matches are free, check out the MLS schedule, which has all the information you’ll need.

WILL MLS SEASON PASS HAVE OTHER SOCCER-RELATED CONTENT?

Yes! Along with every game, MLS Season Pass will have original and licensed series, including:

  • The Ritual – deep dives into the rituals and cultures that connect MLS fans
  • Beyond the Pitch – explores the business and passion projects of MLS players off the pitch
  • Iconic Players – relive memorable moments from MLS’ most iconic players
