Hulu Plans: Subscription Free Trials, Prices, and Offerings

If you’ve been considering adding Hulu to your life, there are a few plans to consider. From its live TV offerings to its many add-on packages, Hulu has one of the most extensive streaming plans available on the market. Whether you’re looking for the best deal possible or you just want an option that lets everyone in your house watch at once, you’re set. Here’s everything you need to know about Hulu’s plans, free trials, prices, and everything in between.

Hulu Plans

Here are the four Hulu plans to consider.

Hulu

The first is the most basic version of Hulu, which will cost you $7.99 a month. This version will give you access to Hulu’s full library, next day episodes of most network shows, the most complete collection of FX content on streaming, and Hulu and FX on Hulu’s originals. Keep in mind this base version comes with ads.

Eligible students can also get ad-supported Hulu for $1.99 a month.

Hulu (No Ads)

If you pay just a little more those ads vanish and you can enjoy ad-free streaming. Hulu’s ad-free plan costs $17.99 a month as of October 12, 2023. Much like with the base version of Hulu, it won’t give you access to Hulu’s live TV offerings but you can watch all of the streaming service’s library content and originals.

Hulu + Live TV

If you crave the joys of live television and channel surfing, this next tier is for you. Thanks to Hulu + Live TV you can have access to over 75 top channels including ABC, Fox, NBC, CBS, The CW, CNN, A&E, Animal Planet, Bravo, Cartoon Network, Disney Channel, ESPN, and HGTV. This option is great for anyone who wants to cut the cord but still wants to watch live sports. The most basic version of Hulu + Live TV will run you $89.99 a month. While this version comes with commercials, you’ll also get ad-supported Disney+ and ad-supported ESPN+ as a part of the bundle. This price also includes unlimited cloud DVR storage at no additional cost.

Hulu (No Ads) + Live TV

Hulu’s most expensive tier comes with the plethora of channels mentioned above—sans those pesky commercials. The slight uptick in cost will set you back a bit more, so you can sign up for Hulu + Live TV for $89.99 a month. Though that price may seem steep, it’s still a lot cheaper than the days of cable, and it includes the ad-free versions of Disney+ and ESPN+.

How to Change Your Hulu Plan

Changing your Hulu plan is simple. Once you’ve signed up for Hulu, simply head to your Account page. From there, scroll down to the “My Subscription” section and click on the “Manage Plan” link. Here you can toggle between the four different plans listed above.

Does Hulu Have a Free Trial?

No matter which version of Hulu you sign up for, you can experience the streaming service for free for 30 days as a part of the trial period. The basic versions of Hulu are the most generous when it comes to free trials. These versions give subscribers access to Hulu’s vast library, next day episodes, and originals, but they do not include live TV.

Hulu + Live TV does not currently have a free trial.

What’s the Deal with Hulu’s Add-ons?

As mentioned before there are four premium cable networks you can add to any Hulu account. All of these networks have streaming services of their own. But if you subscribe to them through your Hulu account you will be charged on the same monthly bill—and you’ll have one less password to remember. Hulu’s add-on options are available to consolidate your streaming all in one central location.

Each of the premium channels include that network’s streaming library as well as access to all of their original content. They’re available for an additional monthly cost. Here are the ones Hulu currently has:

  • Max: $15.99 a month
  • Cinemax: $9.99 a month
  • Showtime: $10.99 a month
  • STARZ: $9.99 a month
  • ESPN+: $10.99 a month

If I Have HBO Through Hulu, Do I Have Max?

You certainly do. To access Max either go to Max’s website or download the HBO Max app from your streaming device of choice. From there, simply enter in the username and password you use to log into Hulu.

Are There Hulu + Live TV Add-ons?

At the moment Hulu offers a few add-ons exclusive to its live TV offerings. The first is the unlimited screens add-on. All Hulu plans allow streamers to view two screens simultaneously. By paying an additional $9.99 a month for any Hulu + Live TV account, subscribers can watch an unlimited amount of screens simultaneously.

Hulu also offers additional channel bundles for Live TV subscribers who have a particular interest in sports, entertainment, or Spanish-language content. The sports add-on will add an additional $9.99 to your monthly bill, while the entertainment add-on costs $7.99 and the Español package is an additional $4.99.

What’s the Hulu and Spotify Bundle?

This plan was specifically designed for students. If you’re a student and already have an existing Spotify account, you can sign up for Spotify Premiu+ Hulu for only $5.99 a month. But there’s a catch. Spotify Premium for Students + Hulu only gives subscribers access to Hulu’s basic plan with ads. That means if you’re looking for a live TV option or something without commercials, this plan isn’t for you.

What’s the Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN Bundle?

The Disney Bundle is offered in three tiers and includes subscriptions to either Hulu and Disney+, or Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+ at a discounted price compared to the price you’d pay for all three services individually.

If you’re not a sports lover, the Disney Bundle Duo Basic is for you. At $9.99 a month, it includes access to the ad-supported versions of Disney+ and Hulu. The Duo Premium, priced at $19.99 removes ads.

For only $14.99 a month, you can have access to Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN, all with ads. But specifically what this bundle means is a little tricky. Though this deal gives you access to three streaming services for a great price, there isn’t one app that aggregates the content from all three services, so you’ll need to download all of the services separately. One log-in will work on all three.

If ads are a deal breaker for you, but you still love a discount, you’re in luck. For $24.99, you can bundle the ad-free versions of Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+.

How to Cancel Your Hulu Plan

If you feel like you haven’t been getting your money’s worth from your Hulu subscription, you’re in luck: Canceling your Hulu plan is pain-free. First, visit your Account page. From there, scroll all the way down to the bottom of the. From there, you’ll encounter two options:

1) Pause Your Hulu Subscription: What does that mean? Here’s Hulu’s official explanation: “Instead of canceling, schedule a pause. You can pause your subscription for up to 12 weeks beginning on your next billing date. While your subscription is paused, you won’t be billed, and you won’t be able to watch videos. You can log in to resume or cancel any time.”

2) Cancel Your Hulu Subscription: Heads up. Hulu will first try to get you to “pause” your subscription (see above), but you can simply click-through that option to cancel your subscription. No painful phone conversations or call center operatives trying to talk you out of your decision.
