The peak streaming era has led to many new streaming services trying to break through the noise. One of those is Peacock, a service jam packed with content from NBCUniversal, including NBC favorites like 30 Rock, The Office, and Saturday Night Live, plus originals like Poker Face and The Traitors and hundreds of movies including 2024 awards favorite The Holdovers.

What Is Peacock?

Peacock is the streaming service from NBCUniversal. The service is a one-stop shop for NBCUniversal content and will boast an impressive library of NBC comedies and dramas, live sports, Universal Studios and Focus Features films, and new original content.

How Does Peacock Work?

Though Peacock used to offer a free plan, now you’ll need a paid plan to stream anything on Peacock. Currently there are two subscription tiers: the ad-supported Premium plan and the ad-free Premium Plus plan.

What Happened to Peacock’s Free Plan?

On January 31, 2023, Peacock ended free plan option for new subscribers. Notably, the service launched with a free tier that limited access to the content catalog, excluding new movies, next-day TV premieres, and full seasons of Peacock originals. Now, the only way to stream any of Peacock’s content is to pay for one of the Premium plans.

How Much Does Peacock Cost?

Peacock TV costs differently depending on your streaming package. The official breakdown is as follows:

  • Peacock Premium with Ads: $5.99/month or $59.99/year. This paid plan gives users full access to Peacock TV content (about 20,000 hours of TV and movies), but will include commercial breaks. Commercial breaks during TV shows happen as they normally do, but ads are front-loaded during movies so you can watch the whole movie without interruption. You’ll also be able to watch new NBC and Bravo shows the day after they air on TV, plus hundreds of live sporting events
  • Peacock Premium Plus: $11.99/month or $119.99/year. This premium plan gives users full access to everything Peacock Premium subscribers get, only without ads. It also comes with 24/7 live access to your local NBC channel.

Is There A Peacock Free Trial?

Though it once offered a free trial, particularly in the weeks after the service initially launched, Peacock does not currently have a free trial.

Are Any Peacock Deals Available?

Yes! Right now through June 30, you can get the Peacock Premium annual plan for $19.99, rather than the typical $59.99.

What Channels Are On Peacock?

Peacock Premium Plus subscribers get live access to their local NBC affiliate.
