Like most desks in a home setting, rather than an office, mine faces a wall. Which means the main light in the room is behind me, and the lighting in my workspace isn't great. I have tried a few desk lamps, all with one bulb, and have found them unsatisfactory. The lighting was too yellow and warm for working conditions, or because it was spot lighting, my hands would create shadows on my papers, or if I angled the lamp so that my desk surface looked good, then it was shining in my eyes also. This lamp fixes ALL my woes. The lighting is a cool white, the bar design means no shadows, the z-design means I can angle it exactly how I want, and the height of the lamp means it is above my head and no more direct light in my eyes.
It is totally worth the price to me because I can now work at home without getting headaches, and without getting irritated. Plus, I initially found this lamp on another site where I was going to buy it for $50 more before I decided to see if I could get it from Amazon. So it made me feel like I was getting a deal.

UPDATE 12/14/2021
This light has been through 6 moves and 5 locations (moved back to the same place at some point), and it is still a winner for me at 4.75 years. It has always met my lighting needs, including wrapping out from the stand on a bookcase to lighting a fold-out desk in my first NYC apartment. If you want to get lighting in a particular spot, you can't go wrong with this lamp!

The biggest change is the intensity level switch: used to be 2 buttons with nice tactile feedback, and now it's a single touch-sensitive strip with ZERO tactile feedback. The new configuration presents a few problems:
[a] There are some 15 to 20 (hard to count exactly -- very close together) discrete intensity positions, so good luck getting the exact same setting twice.
[b] Yes touch interfaces are all the rage, but with a smartphone/tablet you are normally LOOKING AT the interface that you're touching. Here, you cannot see the touch strip (unless you stand up and look behind the lamp), so you have to fumble for it. Further, the touch strip is flush with the lamp, so you can't feel where it begins and ends.
[c] The switch is now at the top of the middle segment; before, it was on the bottom segment right next to the base. Reaching for the switch is far less convenient now, and yes, operating the switch now makes the lamp resonate ("wobble", as another reviewer said); this is due entirely to the position of the switch. And, you're nearly guaranteed to accidentally reset the switch while adjusting position of the lamp head itself! Annoying.

(Final note about the intensity switch: you don't have to slide your finger from the end to the desired position -- you can just tap right on the desired position.)

I would only recommend this model if you plan to get it with the occupancy sensor (a.k.a. motion detector), set the light intensity EXACTLY ONCE, and let the occupancy sensor do the on/off switching for you thereafter. By the way: some vendors on Amazon throw in the pricey sensor for free, so be sure to only buy from those.

I'm sending this one back, and getting the previous model again to replace the lamp I had. (Which was lost by USPS -- worked perfectly for 4 years straight. No complaints about the previous model.)

Wonderful light quality, especially for a workshop - soft shadows, even illumination, bright, easy on the eyes. This is, my favorite workshop lamp by far, although it sure comes at a steep price.

The slider to adjust the brightness is a new addition in this generation of the lamp (I still have an earlier model before, but also bought this one alongside with an additional workbench for my garage). It's not particularly fun to use, since there's no tactile feedback and you almost always have to wait and see if you actually turned it on or off all the way. It's also not very useful to begin with, since I can't think of many uses for a very dim desk lamp.

PS. Note that the lamp is also available with alternative mounts, such as desk clamps; this is more economical than buying this model with a heavy base plate, throwing the plate out, and then purchasing the clamp separately. But you may need to search around on third-party websites.

Basically, this product is not worth $211. The 42 LED light does not emit enough light for student study purposes. The brightness control has already stopped functioning. I have to really struggle to switch this light on. The design is good but the quality is pathetic. I know I can not expect much from a chinese product, then the price should also have been reduced to $100.

I bought this (generation 2) Koncept LED lamp in December 2011. After two years of use, it failed to the extent that the lamp only operates at the first 2 settings. In other words, out of 5 possible brightness settings, only the two dimmest settings still function. Given that LEDs are marketed as essentially failure proof, this product was a disappointment. 2 stars (1 star for each year that it actually worked).

It is my 6th Koncept light (2 floor lamps 4 desk/tabletop) in two residences. They are widely adjustable both in positioning and aiming the light and in varying brightness. We also like the simple modern design.

The only item that I have a negative on is the placement of the on/off/dimmer switch. I would find it better positioned if it was located on the underside of the arm, rather than on top of it.
