USA: Police Chase Ends in Airborne Truck, Massive Fentanyl Bust
United States - July 11, 2024 A dramatic police chase in Chester County concluded today with the arrest of Eric Bernard Jones after his truck went airborne and crashed on Ashford Road. The incident began around 6:32 AM when Chester County Sheriff Deputies attempted to pull over Jones for driving with a suspended license near JA Cochran Bypass and Columbia Road. Jones, upon being asked to exit his vehicle, evaded the traffic stop, sparking a pursuit that ended in a dramatic crash. Law enforcement, assisted by K9 unit Sammie, apprehended Jones at the scene without further issue. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, deputies discovered significant quantities of illicit substances, including approximately 112 grams of suspected Fentanyl, 56 grams of suspected Methamphetamine, and an assortment of controlled pills, alongside $4,373 in cash. Sheriff Max Dorsey emphasized the severity of the situation, highlighting that the amount of Fentanyl seized could have potentially been lethal for over 56,000 individuals. Jones faces multiple charges including driving with a suspended license, trafficking in Fentanyl and Methamphetamine, and possession with intent to distribute controlled substances.
