It could possibly impact social norms, potentially leading to unrealistic expectations of the software. In a blog post, the company discussed the uses of GPT-4o for "lonely people" while also warning about its potential to harm healthy relationships. The latest version responds with phrases like "this is our last day together," which could suggest "forming connections with the model." The new response time to voice inputs is nearly identical to human response time, at 320 milliseconds. "It matches GPT-4 Turbo performance on text in English and code, with significant improvement on text in non-English languages, while also being much faster and 50% cheaper in the API. GPT-4o is especially better at vision and audio understanding compared to existing models," said OpenAi in the blog post. The company utilizes a scorecard system to evaluate factors such as voice technology, speaker identification, and more, which are then further developed into prototypes.
