David Hume was a Scottish philosopher, historian, and economist. Hume created a highly influential system of philosophical empiricism, skepticism, and naturalism. Much of Hume's work examined the psychology of human nature with the idea that passion influences behavior more than reason. An Enquiry Concerning the Principles of Morals, published in 1751, is a book in which Hume argues that the foundation of morals comes from sentiment rather than reason. Hume believed this book was his finest work.
