If you're feeling conflicted about the portrayal of Luke Skywalker in The Last Jedi, you're not alone.

Mark Hamill clearly feels conflicted too.

In the junket interview above, Hamill explains that the Luke Skywalker portrayed in The Last Jedi is "not my Luke Skywalker".

"I said to Rian, I said 'Jedis don't give up'," explains Hamill. "I mean even if he had a problem, maybe take a year to try and regroup... but if he made a mistake he would try and right that wrong."

Hamill goes on to say that he and director Rian Johnson had a fundamental difference in that sense, but admits the story was no longer his.

"I still haven't accepted it completely, but it's only a movie," says Hamill. "I hope people like it, I hope they don't get upset, and I came to really believe that Rian was the exact man that they needed for this job."
