Opinion podcast sharing platform is shutting down, Nov 1, 2017
Because of rising server costs our sharing platform will get shut down, please follow our instructions to migrate your RSS-feed and content.
On a brigther note: The app will remain as the same beloved recording/editing platform as before.
Can I work on many episodes simultaneously?
There’s only one timeline in Opinion, so you’ll only be able to work on one episode inside the app. This is a decision we made in order to simplify the workflow as much as possible.
However, by using an third party storage option (such as Dropbox, or iCloud) you’ll be able to export your work-in-progress episode. Once you want to resume your work on that particular episode, just import it back into the app again.
Export: Just tap the sharing button, then »Share as File«, choose Dropbox or any other storage option of choice.
Import: Tap the import button (big button in the middle) and then tap »Locations« if you prefer another service than iCloud. Please note that you have to be signed in with your iCloud account in order to access this button. It’s stupid, but it’s because of Apple’s restrictions, we’re sorry about that.
Good luck!
I’d like to buy a bunch of licenses through Apple’s Volume Purchase Program, is that possible?
Absolutely yes! Opinion Enterprise is available in the App Store for VPP purchases. Opinion Enterprise has exactly the same feature set as Opinion. This version is made solely for Volume Purchase Program buyers, since VPP isn’t compatible with the In-App-Purchase model used in Opinion.
I’ve bought Opinion before, how do I restore my previous purchase on my new phone?
Tap the purchase button (big green/white) and then tap the Restore button. Make sure you’re logged in with the same AppleID as before.
I’ve purchased the app and would like to get a refund
Sure, just follow the instructions over here and you’re soon set.
I want to record a phone call, but… how?!
Unfortunately, iOS itself doesn’t support calls recording. And it doesn’t allow other apps (like Skype) to record calls either – but, in order to record high quality calls, we’d warmly recommend Audio Hijack for Mac. There’s also a bunch of call recording apps for PC, check out this list.
Can I send audio from Voice Memos to Opinion?
Yes, just export the audio from Voice Memos to Dropbox (you have to sign up for a free account and download their app for that to work), then launch Opinion and tap the Import button (big one in the middle on the main screen). Now choose »Other apps…« in the popup menu.
That way you’ll be asked if you want to import from iCloud. To change to Dropbox, tap »Locations« in the upper left. Now find your file and choose it!
How do I import audio from Dropbox or iCloud?
Tap the import button, then choose »Other apps…« in the popup menu.
That way you’ll be asked if you want to import from iCloud. If you’d like to import from Dropbox (or another service) instead – just tap »Locations« in the upper left. Then choose your preferred service.
Unfortunately, you’ll need to have an iCloud account set up in order to access other services through the »Locations« menu. This is due to a design decision by Apple – and there’s sadly no way for us change this to the better at the moment.
Does Opinion support audio fades?
Not at the moment, but feel free to use a third party editor to do the extra tweaks and edits if you want to. Hokusai or Twisted Wave might be worth checking out for iOS, and Audacity is a free option for Mac & PC.
Can I embed my Opinion podcast on a blog?
We don’t offer any embeds as of today, but hopefullý soon.
However, you’re always free to share your show to Soundcloud from Opinion. Soundcloud offers a nice embeddable player.
Is there any limit for how long Opinion can record?
No, as soon as you’ve unlocked free recording, you’ll be able to record as long as your iOS device can make it (usually limited by free disk space).
What does the in app purchase »unlimited recording« mean?
It means that you’ll be free to record and publish how many podcasts you want. You’re free to create multiple shows, and you’re free to make your episodes without any time limit. So basically you’re free to do whatever you want, within the boundaries of law and good behaviour 8)
Is there an Android version of Opinion?
Unfortunately not, we’re a small team and we’ve decided to focus entirely on making the best possible experience for iOS users. However, we’re encouraging others to fill in the gap on the Android platform.
