Want to see it all? We put together this guide to all the big live sports and events happening this week from Aug 8 through Aug 14. Check out the schedule:

Olympics

The 2024 Paris Olympics are in their final week! It’s the most exciting time in sports, and it’s all right here on Peacock. All of it. Every moment. Every medal. You can watch every second of your favorite sport, or you can check out Gold Zone to be taken straight to the most exciting moments as they’re happening in real time. Find out when your faves start and don’t miss a moment.

Marathon Swimming

If you thought the speed of the other swimming events was impressive, wait until you see the stamina it takes to swim 10km in open water. This sport requires strength, patience, strategy, and if you can manage a burst of speed to pull ahead at the end, great. This year, Marathon Swimming will take place in the Seine River at Pont Alexandre III.

Track & Field has so many opportunities for medals each day, it’s hard to find a sport more thrilling or emotional. Especially with the star athletes we have competing this year. The men’s side includes Noah Lyles, who just might be the fastest man on Earth. On the women’s side, we have Sha’Carri Richardson and Gabby Thomas, two athletes who routinely leave jaws on the floor and opponents in the dust. That’s only two of the athletes you’ll see in the coming week. Everyone competing in Track & Field is phenomenal with an amazing story behind them. No matter who takes gold, there will be tears. Track & Field Events will be held outside the Hotel de Ville, at Invalides, in the Stade de France, and on the Trocadero.

Diving

Diving has been a part of the Olympic games since 1904 and is one of the most technically complex sports on the program. Divers are judged on the aesthetics of their movements in the air, how well they enter the water, and if it’s a synchronized event, how well they match their partner. That’s tough to keep track of when you’re falling through the air and these athletes make it look easy. Diving events will take place in Paris’ Aquatics Centre.

Gymnasts use ribbons, hoops, balls, and clubs to create a performance that will be judged by difficulty, artistry, and execution. Rhythmic Gymnastics will take place at the Porte de La Chapelle Arena.

Sport Climbing

This sport made its official Olympic debut in Tokyo, and stuck around for the 2024 Paris Olympics. With three events all featuring unreal displays of speed, strategy, and strength, you can see why. Bouldering requires athletes to scale 4.5m walls without ropes. Speed requires athletes to scale a 15m inclined wall as fast as possible. The lead event requires extreme adaptability as climbers navigate a 15m wall having never seen the route before. After watching this event, we wouldn’t be surprised if you looked up local climbing gyms. Sport Climbing will be held at the Le Bourget Climbing Venue, one of two venues specifically built for these Olympics.

Canoe/Kayak

You don’t realize how fast a canoe can go until you see them racing at the Olympic level. Both canoe and kayak races will be contested, each with their own rules and challenges. Canoe Sprint takes place on flatwater with one, two, or four athletes in each boat. While sprint is all about speed, slalom adds new challenges by taking place on an artificial whitewater course. Canoe and Kayak races will be held at Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium.

Modern Pentathlon

No event requires a more diverse array of skills than the Modern Pentathlon. The ancient version of the event tested the strengths which ancient Greeks thought made a complete athlete. That spirit is still alive, though with more modern events. The Ancient Pentathlon consisted of running, jumping, javelin, discus, and wrestling. The modern version is a little more complicated. There's a riding round, where athletes must complete a show jumping course on an unfamiliar horse. There’s a fencing round, a 200m freestyle swim, and a running and shooting round. In that round, athletes alternate between running and shooting at five different targets. It’s amazing to see the athletes who can do all that to gold medal standards. Modern Pentathlon takes place at Château de Versailles and North Paris Arena.

Wrestling

Wrestling has been a part of the Olympics since the Ancient Games. Today, the sport is divided into two events. Greco-Roman Wrestling is based on the ancient format, where wrestlers can only use their arms and upper body to attack opponents above the waist. Freestyle wrestling is more modern and allows a wider variety of moves. Wrestling events will be held at the Champ de Mars Arena.

Sailing

A variety of sailing disciplines will be contested at the 2024 Paris Olympics, though the same basic principle applies in each: maneuver a craft through water and adapt to ever-changing conditions. The smaller the craft gets, the more demanding it is to control. These events will be absolutely gorgeous to watch as they’ll take place at Marseille Marina.

Thursday at 6a ET: Men’s and Women’s Kite Medal Series

Water Polo

The original version of Water Polo resembled rugby more than any other sport. It wasn’t until the late 1800s that new rules were adopted to make the sport safer and more like soccer. It’s still one of the most physically demanding sports of the program, requiring powerful swimming abilities, accurate throwing, and quick movements in the water. Matches will take place in the Aquatics Centre and Paris La Defense Arena.

Field Hockey

Just because it’s summer doesn’t mean hockey fans will be left hungry. Field hockey is similar to its ice counterpart, except players run instead of skate and play with curved sticks. All the fun and unpredictability we expect from hockey is here, with a fast-moving ball adding a different kind of challenge to the game. Hockey games will be played at Yves-du-Manoir Stadium.

Thursday at 8a ET: Men’s Bronze Medal Match

Friday at 8a ET: Women’s Bronze Medal Match

Friday at 2p ET: Women’s Gold Medal Match

Weightlifting

As a sport, weightlifting dates back to Ancient Egypt and Greece. It’s one of humanity’s oldest questions: Who can lift the heaviest thing? In the modern Games, athletes perform two types of lifts three times each. One lift is a smooth motion from the floor to above the head. The other is a two-step movement, first from the floor to the shoulders, then up above the head. The best lifts are combined to give the athlete a final score. Weightlifting events will be held at the South Paris Arena.

Handball

Handball doesn't get a ton of attention in the United States outside of the Olympics. It should. This is a physical game that combines everything great about basketball, hockey, and soccer. Players move the ball down the court, trying to get it in the opposing goal, but here's the catch: They can't make a goal from inside the circle around the net. They can throw while mid-air, diving into the circle though. As you might expect, that leads to some thrilling highlights in every game. Handball games are played in Pierre Mauroy Stadium and South Paris Arena.

Beach Volleyball

Beach Volleyball was born in California in the early 20th century and has become one of the most popular Olympic sports. Played on sand in teams of two, beach volleyball brings unpredictable conditions into the game, along with a surface that’s more difficult to move on. Athletes need strength and versatility to excel here. This year’s beach volleyball tournament is a definite must-see as games will be played in a brand new, outdoor stadium beneath the Eiffel Tower.

Team USA’s squad is made up of some of the NBA’s biggest stars, including LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and more. On the Women’s team, we’ll get to see Brittney Griner, Kelsey Plum, A’ja Wilson, and more of the WNBA’s biggest stars. The U.S. has been historically dominant in this sport, but other countries have stepped their game up in recent years. You’re gonna want to follow this one closely. Artistic Swimming

For those of us who can’t do much more than swim a few laps, Artistic Swimming always looks like one of the most impossible, gravity-defying events of the Olympics. Athletes propel themselves out of the water and perform complex, synchronized maneuvers. It’s wild to see. Artistic Swimming consists of two events: A duet and a team competition. The duet event is divided into technical and freestyle portions, while the team competition adds an acrobatic portion. The sport has been part of the Olympics since 1984, but historically has only been open to women. The 2024 Paris Olympics is the first time Artistic Swimming will be open to male athletes. Aquatics Swimming events will be held at the Aquatics Centre.

Thursday at 1:30p ET: Duet Technical Routine

Friday at 1:30p ET: Duet Free Routine

Breaking

The newest sport of the Olympic program is also the one that begins latest. Breaking, or Break Dancing, began in the United States in the 1970s. International competitions were first held in the ‘90s and it became the worldwide sport it is today. 16 B-Boys and B-Girls will compete, performing complex moves to the beats of a DJ’s tracks. They’ll have to stay alert and be ready to improvise as the DJ can change tracks on them at any moment. The first-ever Breaking Olympic medals will be earned at La Concorde.

Tour de France Femmes

Right after the Olympics wind down in Paris, France hosts another massive multi-day event. The Tour de France Femmes takes the top female cyclists on an eight-stage race down the east side of the country, with a route that gets increasingly tough and mountainous as it goes on. The city of Paris will still be recovering from the Olympics so, like the men’s Tour, this route skips the city entirely. In the coming week, we’ll see the Grand Depart in Rotterdam. On Tuesday, they’ll start in Dordrecht, where they’ll begin the first of two stages on the same day. After heading back to Rotterdam, they won’t get any time to rest, as it’s straight into the time trials. After such a long day, the journey south begins in earnest as they head to the next stop in Liège, Belgium. They do tour France eventually, we swear.
