Ratings: Elementary, Shades of Blue End Seasons on Low Note
Elementary closed Season 5 on Sunday night with 4.1 million total viewers and a 0.5 demo rating, hitting and matching series lows. Readers gave the closer an average grade of “B+”; Season 6 will premiere at midseason and run 13 episodes.
Opening CBS’ night, Madam Secretary (7.5 mil/0.7) was steady with its season finale.
Over on NBC, Shades of Blue did 3.8 mil/0.7 followed by 4 mil/0.7 for its season finale, with both hours tying series lows.
ABC’s coverage of the Billboard Music Awards (7.7 mil/2.3) dropped 21 and 28 percent from last year yet still dominated the night in the demo.
Over on Fox, Bob’s Burgers (1.6 mil/0.7) slipped two tenths, The Simpsons (2.1 mil/0/9) dipped a tenth, Making History (1.3 mil/0.6) was flat and Family Guy (averaging 2.15 mil/1.0) was down two tenths.

So, Shades of Blue ends on a 0.7 while Justice ends on a 1.1 and yet Justice is the one that hasn’t been renewed yet. Jennifer Lopez can take her “deal” and stick it.
Chicago Justice is a good show as well, I really enjoy it and hope it gets renewed.
I love Shades of Blue. It always has me on the edge of my seat.

Why so snippy. I like Justice also. It just so happens I was commenting on this article which was about Shades of Blue. It’s not my fault we haven’t heard about Justice’s fate yet.
It’s just frustrating when a show you are a fan of is doing better in the ratings than other NBC shows which have been renewed, and yet it has not! I don’t think she was snippy nor blaming you, just simply frustrated and that is understandable.

Good thing it’s renewed after ending like that, lol. I did not see that happening to Woz at all, completely surprised by that.
Good news: Elementary got renewed. Bad news: won’t be back until mid-season.
What a bad night except for awards show. Elementary is very lucky it does well overseas because those numbers are bad. Shades of Blue not so good either but since JLo is involved and they don’t do many episodes it works for NBC. Poor FOX even their cartoons are fractional
Put NCIS: LA in the Sunday 10 PM slot and watch its numbers drop. No show is safe in that slot.

Shades of Blue was great!! If I wanted to wait to see it another time, I would have watched the Billboard Music Awards just to see Cher! Shades is one of my favorite shows and the season finale rocked!
Yeah, because the Billboard Music Awards was on and CBS & NBC decided to air the season finales of Elementary and Shades of Blues – instead of airing reruns!
Looking at the entire night, the only show the 18-49 demo watched was the Billboard Awards. Anything under a 1.0 means it’s probably a 50+ demo show. If you base ratings solely on the 18-49 demo, then all of these shows should be canceled. The 18-49s are off bingeing on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, etc. They collectively do not care much for network TV.
Why Elementary keeps getting renewed is beyond me. Those numbers does not warrant renewal.

IMO JLM is so creepy he’s unwatchable. If he sat near me at the movies, I’d change seats. Everything about him from his apparel to his facial tics suggests mental illness.
