Spotted: the trendsetting teen drama Gossip Girl turning the big 1-0.
Ten years ago, the world was introduced to the scandalous lives of Manhattan’s elite — and the all-knowing entity that is Gossip Girl — when the CW series blasted onto the television landscape on September 19, 2007. Premiering on the new network only two years after The CW began broadcasting, the boundary-pushing series was touted as “every parent’s nightmare,” “a nasty piece of work” and “mind-blowingly inappropriate.”
Now that a decade has passed since we were first introduced to Blair, Serena and their revolving door of male suitors — and almost five years have passed since we last received a Gossip Girl blast — TVLine has decided to revisit the series’ most shocking, or OMFGG, storylines.

Yeah, I agree that I see many of the plotlines very differently now that I’m older. What was romantic when I was a teenager I see as toxic and abusive now that I’m approaching 30.
Gossip Girl (as with Pretty Little Liars) went so downhill when they submitted totally to the “shipping” audience and not to actual development. Dair was a refreshing couple that deserved to make it to the end. Serena should’ve ended up on her own and single for a while for the first time and the GG reveal should’ve actually made sense
It’s true but GG was still miles better.
I didn’t understand anything to the Charlie/Ivy thing, is it normal ?
Rufus and Lisa loeb was much weirder than William and lily.
Yeah more Radom maybe but Lily ending up back with a workaholic husband who cheated on her -once with her sister-,was a deadbeat dad and was on the run from police for making Lily think she was Dick to break her & Rufus up and who conspired with her enemy( ivy) to break her & her Rufus up was pretty weird.
I figured it was Lily getting what she deserved. She sabatoged her own happiness over and over, and eventually ended up with the exact kind of life she tried so hard to run away from when she was younger because she couldn’t break free of the stereotype she was convinced her life should be. It’s sad irony.
Actually fall 2007 was only 1 year after The CW started broadcasting, not 2. The WB & UPN both went defunct in 2006.
Forgot Hilary Duff was on here… and Michelle Trachtenberg as Georgina was so good! Man this show had some great moments.
As someone who’s seen maybe one episode of this show, twists nine and ten are hilariously hard to follow.

Sorry but I was happy Dan and Serena ended up together.
I was not happy Rufus and Lily didn’t end up together.
Lily schemed and manipulated Rufus the entire series, i do believe she loved him but he did deserve better. Serena ending up with “Gossip Girl” who made her life hell was a poor choice. Maybe it’s retribution for how selfish Serena always was, but no, it’s purely because a vocal section of the fans loved Dan/Serena pairing
Since TV is now in the revival business, CW should revive GG in a couple of years. Maybe by then Dan and Blair could be a thing and we can all forget that mess of a finale ever happened.
Loved Chair from the pilot until the final episode. Never bought into Dair as having any kind of sexual chemistry and Dan was such a slimy jerk by the end that I hated him and could not have ever picked him for my favorite, Blair. Chuck and Blair obviously had major problems, but it’s TV, and nothing about that show was realistic so why should happy couples be realistic. Frankly, Chuck was the only one between him and Dan that could have been a true partner for her.
Most ridiculous show ever, but I couldn’t stop watching. My favorite part about the finale is when they find out Dan is Gossip Girl, and after vowing for years to take her down they’re all just like, “Oh whatever, silly Dan.” Blair is the only one angry and having a realistic reaction, and they all tell her to calm down. Hilarious! Also Mayor Nate Archibald. I guffawed at that part.
Some of those storyline were actually fun to watch, but other like Bart Bass resurrection, Lola/Ivy and Dan being GG were the worst. If you look at it is getting worse in the end, 1-4 were great, 5 meh, 6 the worst.
Loved this show for the fashion, Leighton Meester and Ed Westwick’s incredible chemistry, the music, Chace Crawford’s pretty face and the crazy drama. It was a blast.

I am not the demographic audience for Gossip Girl, being in my 40’s, married, with two teenage boys. Still, I was quite drawn in with it when I picked it up two months ago. I enjoyed most stories and relationships in the beginning. Some began to wear on me but none were as compelling as Chuck and Blair. They had fire and spark and so much chemistry. I knew from early on that they belonged together and they became the focal point of the show for me. Every other partner that they were with was boring. I’d have been disappointed if in the end they didn’t end up together and I’m glad the showrunners recognized that as well. I also loved Blair’s mom (perfectly cast) and stepdad Wallace Shawn. He’s always fantastic! Dorota is also a favorite. So many one-liners said with her accent and attitude had me laughing!
