Is this the nascent Office revival’s first Blunder Mifflin?
The Office grad John Krasinski, who’s currently starring in Amazon’s Jack Ryan, hasn’t been contacted about the comedy’s in-the-works reboot at NBC, he tells Ellen DeGeneres in a clip from Monday’s Ellen.

After indicating that he learned about the project “on the Internet,” Krasinski good-naturedly jokes that perhaps Jim Halpert’s presence was not desired in the series continuation.
“Guess who didn’t get a call? Me,” he tells DeGeneres. “What does that say? ‘Know who we didn’t like? Jim!'”
As TVLine exclusively reported in December, the revival of the popular comedy would once again be set at Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton, Penn., branch, and feature a mix of new and old cast members. Steve Carell, who starred as the branch’s regional manager, Michael Scott, for seven of the comedy’s nine seasons, will not be involved in the new series. The search for a new RM/boss is said to be already underway (and we’ve got some suggestions).
Krasinski played paper salesman Jim Halpert in NBC’s adaptation of the British sitcom. The character’s friendship-turned-romance with receptionist Pam Beesly (played by Jenna Fischer) was a strong throughline of the ensemble series.
“I haven’t gotten a call yet,” Krasinski says, adding that he would return if asked. “Oh my god, are you kidding?” he says. “I’d love to get that gang back together.”
Sources confirm to TVLine exclusively that the Peacock network would like to bring back The Office in time for the 2018-2019 season.
Press PLAY on the clip above, then hit the comments: Do you want Jim back at The Office?
Hum…bringing Jim and Pam back only works if they both return, no recasts please! I’m in for a continuation, I think Rebel Wilson should be the new boss :)
P.S. She has to keep her accent though, no fake American accent though, she’s much funnier as herself!!
She should be! Omg
It doesn’t make any sense to bring either one back. Their lives moved on.
Need to start with another “new” office romance.
It makes plenty of sense. They were beloved characters who don’t exist without the viewers.
They don’t even have to work in the office to be a part of the cast. Perhaps Jim finally opened his bike shop, only as a website, and uses the old Michael Scott Paper Company space as his office.
That way, Dwight could be the DM and they could still have their schtick.
Didn’t Jim and Pam leave Scranton for Jim’s new career at the end of the series? It wouldn’t really make sense for them to come back. A guest appearance on one episode, sure, but it would be weird if they were series regulars again.
Absolutely. They moved on and got their happy ending. If they came back, it would probably be as customers or simply as friends of the old characters, if there were some suitably major life event.
No British actors as bosses. It doesn’t work.
I think Alison Janney would be a brilliant choice.
It’ll have to be unknown. Janney already has a show, and with two shows having reached syndication, and with Mom being a profit participation project for her, she now has F-U money. Possibly generational F-U money. Sometime in the next few months she’s possibly going to become an Oscar winner. At that point, she’ll move to movies full time, once Mom ends (which might not be for some years.
Of course we want Jim back! He’s what makes the show!! I wish Steve Carrell would aslo come back, he made the perfect boss.
I swear this was the best show ever , I have every episode recorded SERIOUSLY PLEASE BRING IT BACK
Why in the world do we need a revival for a show that had 9 seasons and hasn’t even been off of the air for 5 years? Seriously, is TV that bad now that we can’t find something good to watch instead of demanding that we keep rehashing shows that literally just ended?
I loved The Office, and I watch the entire series at least once a year, but we need to be okay with shows being finished for good, especially when they end on a perfect note like this show did.
Yes tv is that bad now.. however rebooting a series that became awful when Michael Scott left isn’t the answer especially since he’s not involved
Ooh please bring it back and of course with Jim and Pam. I just started back watching on Netflix I’m on season eight, trying to convince myself not to cry again lol
Please bring Jim back!
The office ended when Michael Scott left so rebooting it without him makes no sense
Are they going to be filming ANOTHER documentary? A decade wasn’t enough?
Yes!! This shows reboot would make my life complete! But if John Krasinski (Jim), is recasted without Jenna Fischer (Pam), the reboot with crumble. Fans (like me) will be very upset and let down by this and a lot will refuse to watch. If they are gonna bring it back, let’s bring it back right people!
Yes! Bring back the office with Jim and Pam. Doesn’t matter how!
I think that it should not , i love this show and i know everything there is to know about it and i think the show ended perfectly and to be honest Steve Carell cannot be replaced , this always hapends on tv shows , its a good show and everyone loves it and just for the sake of doing more episodes the whole series is ruined .
It’s going to be a no go if Jim, Pam, Dwiight and Michael Scott don’t return. Nope. Wouldn’t be the same
