The Roy family might want to get comfortable at HBO: The premium cabler announced Monday that it has renewed drama series Succession for a second season.

Succession — which kicked off its 10-episode first season on June 3 — stars Brian Cox (Deadwood) as Logan Roy, an aging patriarch who refuses to relinquish control of his media and entertainment conglomerate. Jeremy Strong (Masters of Sex), Kieran Culkin (Fargo), Alan Ruck (The Exorcist) and Sarah Snook (Spirited) star as Logan’s four children, who are contemplating what the future will hold for them if and when their father begins to step back from the company.
TVLine’s Cable and Streaming Renewal Scorecard has been updated to reflect Succession‘s Season 2 pickup. The series — which made our list of new summer shows we’re excited about — currently airs Sundays at 10/9c on HBO.
Earlier this month, the network officially ordered a Game of Thrones prequel pilot, to be set in the same world as the award-winning fantasy drama, but thousands of years before the ongoing fight for the Iron Throne. Sci-fi drama Westworld, which wraps Season 2 on June 24, was also recently renewed for a third go-round.

Vinyl says hi.
I thought the same thing! Renewals don’t mean as much when networks reverse decisions all the time…I think Tbs just did it a couple days ago with one of their comedys.
About four times in seven years, across all networks, = “all the time”?
That’s great! I’ve only seen the first episode, but I loved it! I’m glad to know HBO has enough confidence in the episodes to come to warrant a second season.
Saw the first episode and put it on series record! Loved it.
I’m still not completely sold on this show, but it does a good job of raising questions about the family dynamics to keep me watching. And I really want to know what’s up with Tom. (Also, I’m still waiting to hear about Divorce, HBO.)
Fantastic News, but as stated in Episode 2: Words are just a complicated Airstream.
I’ve watched both episodes – it’s not bad. I love the showrunner/creator’s other projects (he was a writer on In The Thick of It and In The Loop), so I’m definitely giving it a chance. I do wish it was funnier because the family is so unlikable, and that can be harder to digest in a drama than it is in a comedy.
I enjoyed watching Succession. I thought it was fairly well written and the acting was mostly well done, however, I thought the humor was a bit too much. And, there was way too much profanity. The characters sounded too immature with their cursing. A couple of the characters seemed as though they were in a Saturday night live skit. If I were grading the show, I would give it a B. However I believe it can easily be improved to an A.
i’m meh on this show. renewals seems a bit premature.
A bit of a “Summer” filler – you’ll be able to dip in and out – and probably guess the bits you missed
I think the show is fantastic. The acting is superb. And it’s also very funny. I hope people appreciate the job Matthew MacFayden is doing.
Great show.
I agree Ben! Matthew Macfadyen is a great actor and has played many different roles….he brings light to some of the dark in the family. Hope they keep him on. I am always excited to watch the next episode!
Love this show, but confused, only 9 episodes in season 1?
So season 2 begins with the wedding?
I can’t wait! When will season 2 begin
The first episode of Succession was essentially unwatchable. Glad I stuck with it as the show became compelling television.
Glad the show will be back—-too many loose ends. Thank you HBO.
When will season two begin. Don’t let there be year’s gap between seasons, like GOT, while they write new scripts.
I love this Succession, I find it intriguing. Glad it got renewed
So very glad that this compelling drama will return. The acting is great.
Please, when will Season 2 return?
When does Succession Season 2 start??? This is my favorite show. Took first place over Billions. The casting is perfect and the plot astounds.
Yes love succession!
Looking for more!!!!
