Fox Networks Group is giving a global sendoff today to its new Marvel drama “The Gifted.”

The series that bows tonight on Fox is rolling out virtually day-and-date in 183 countries across 21st Century Fox’s vast collection of Fox-branded international channels. The global launch demonstrates the company’s confidence in “Gifted,” which revolves around a family on the run after the parents discover their children have supernatural powers.

“The global scale and reach of the Fox brand gives us a unique capacity to make event series such as ‘The Gifted’ available to viewers everywhere day and date,” said 21st Century Fox president Peter Rice. “This fantastic series, which expands on our longstanding collaboration with Marvel, Matt Nix, Bryan Singer, Simon Kinberg, Lauren Shuler Donner and the X-Men universe, will resonate widely.”

Fox has the benefit of being able to tap into a massive international platform for showcasing entertainment programming. Fox has given the day-and-date global launch treatment to its most valuable franchises, including the recent revivals of “The X-Files,” “Prison Break” and “24: Legacy.”

The simultaneous global launch also helps combat piracy of high-profile TV shows that traditionally premiere in the U.S. months before they become legally available in overseas markets. Fox’s international footprint encompasses some 200 channels reaching 250 million households.

“Gifted” hails from 20th Century Fox TV. Matt Nix penned the pilot and serves as showrunner and exec producer. Bryan Singer helmed the pilot and also exec produces with Marvel TV’s Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory. Stephen Moyer, Amy Acker, Natalie Alyn Lind, and Percy Hynes White star as the nuclear family at the heart of the series.
