Look at that face. Look at it! Look at that repulsive, hateful smirk. That’s the thing about the Emperor, as finally revealed to us in Return of the Jedi. He’s not just evil, more evil than Darth Vader even—he’s a huge dick about it! “Oh, I’m afraid the deflector shield will be quite operational when your friends arrive…” If you don’t want to reach out for the nearest lightsaber with the Force and slice this a-hole to ribbons when you hear that, you’re a better man than I—and than Luke Skywalker himself. That’s magnificent writing and acting, right there.
