This particular effort from Albert Brooks stood out because he was delving beyond spirituality, around science fiction and into a soul's effort to redeem a time that was cut short before it could develop into a more complete life. The writing, acting and the soundtrack really stood out to me and this is my favorite of his films.

My wife choose for us to watch this 1991 movie in our weekly movie time together. She told me that it was her favorite movie making her think, laugh and cry. This masterful comedy written and directed by Albert Brooks takes however as a main theme human fear, which is analyzed and dealt with in afterlife. Implication is that everyone who died would be subject of some expected unavoidable judgement. It is very common that religions are leading people to believe that and many new age spiritual movements are doing that as well. It does not really matter who would judge you, God, or gods, or some kinds of committees. You can die anytime, this life is fragile indeed. Ask yourself now, if it would be like in the movie, are you going to be brave, or behave like subjects in the movie who look like what could be described as perhaps "spiritual cattle?". Will you be ready for a fight? You can prepare yourself for that and gain your strength in this life. You will need bravery to overcome those who would like to manipulate and control you again for their advantage.
The movie portrays lower form based dimension where everything looks like on our planet. Religion heavens are similar in a way. The real freedom waits for you beyond that in higher transitional and non-form dimensions and in the true heaven where you can unify with your Creator or Source (choose which one you like.) For that you have to be brave, you have to take action, even everybody there would be telling you otherwise. Interesting is that movie gives you only two choices, either become a citizen of the Universe (as it is portrayed, thank you very much, I am not interested), or go back to Earth for another reincarnation. No talking about the hell. Does it mean that the hell does not exist, or the other choice (going back to Earth) is like the hell? Choose to watch this great motion picture and think and decide for yourself.

Super funny. It's a must see for people to imagine what it would be like if we were judged based on whether we took risks in life (good ones) or behaved like a coward and played it safe and really missed out on life as a result. Fear is your enemy and judgement city is where you learn if you successfully overcame it in your former life. The defense attorney Rip Torn steals the show. Albert Brooks is full of one liners and Meryl Streep is an angel (well, not literally). I don't like that he was judged because he did not sleep with her. Sure, he was fearful about being judged but he should be. Sex should not be some casual act anywhere, let alone judgement city. They were supposedly "dead" but still being judged. It's a movie. It was very funny and you'll enjoy the pie scene at the restaurant. lol Remember, fear is your enemy (unless a lion is running at you. You know what I mean. It's old but still relevant, funny, and both the guy and the girl (chick flick too) will enjoy it.
