CNN.com presents new online look
CNN.com has launched a new design that provides better navigation, larger photos, personalized weather, a new "User Picks" feature, and more depth in specific subject areas, including technology, entertainment and world news.
The design changes were made after significant research, in which we asked you, our visitors, how you use the site and what we could do to make it better.
The new features include:
User Picks -- A real-time monitor that presents the 10 most popular stories on CNN.com, based on what users are choosing to read;
Personalized Weather -- By typing in your zip code or city name, you can now get custom local weather forecasts on the site. We've also added simplified maps for quick access to weather information.
Breaking News -- When news breaks or develops, we will notify you with instant banners appearing not only on the home page, but across every page on the site.
Subject Tabs -- In addition to adding universal section navigation to the site, new subject tabs appear horizontally on the home page and section front pages, making it easier to find the news in categories you are looking for -- offering quick access to new archive pages for subjects including music, movies, books and more.
New and Expanded Sections -- CNN.com has expanded its technology coverage in a new, stand-alone section, and combined science and space coverage into one section.
Partner Content -- We've also made it easier to access stories, games and analysis from CNN/Sports Illustrated, CNN/Money, Time, Entertainment Weekly, People, In Style, Fortune and Business 2.0, sites that offer content complementary to CNN.com's core news coverage.
Thank you for visiting CNN.com and making it your source for news online. We hope that these changes to the site will make it easier for you to use the site and find the information you are looking for. Please let us know what you think -- and offer any suggestions for how we can continue to improve the site.
Sincerely,
CNN.com Editors
