When watching football, you're usually not paying so much attention to the uniforms. You've got the players, the snacks, and your fantasy league to think about as you pray for your team to make a touchdown. What the teams are wearing tends to be a whole lot less important.
But over the years, uniforms have actually played a pretty important role in the ways that viewers bond with their teams. From buying their favorite players' jerseys to choosing the best decorations in their teams' respective colors, football fans have to remain somewhat cognizant of what the uniforms are looking like. And they didn't always look like they do now.
Way back when, uniforms were not only a lot less colorful, but they involved many less moving parts. Helmets? Optional. Pads? Nada. Not every design was a touchdown. These 30 photos demonstrate just how much different teams' uniforms have changed over the years.
