UPDATE: The working title for Schumer’s book is The Girl With the Lower Back Tattoo, a source tells EW. The Hollywood Reporter first published the news, and also reported that Simon & Schuster imprint Gallery Books will publish the book.

EARLIER: Just because this news was inevitable doesn’t make it less exciting: EW has learned that Amy Schumer’s book is real, as Publishers Weekly first reported last week.

The auction for the recent Emmy winner and Entertainment Weekly cover star’s book concluded last Friday, with the winning bid falling between $8-10 million, a source confirms to EW. (That’s even more than we estimated last June.) Schumer’s agent, David Kuhn, had been circulating the proposal widely across Manhattan publishing houses. Editors had to offer a bid on the book to even get a meeting with Schumer.

A rep for Schumer has yet to respond to EW’s request for comment. We will update this post when we hear back.

Schumer’s deal couldn’t be better timed: With an Emmy, a critically-acclaimed TV show and a hit film, all of which she worked on as a writer, her star has never been brighter. Books by female comedians — most of them writers by trade — have taken the book industry by storm in recent years, as evidenced by the gold standards: Tina Fey’s Bossypants and Mindy Kaling’s Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns) and her recent Why Not Me? We don’t expect Schumer’s book to be an exception to this trend.
