It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia renewed for season 13, season 14

The forecast for the next few years is looking rather Sunny.

FXX announced on Friday that it has ordered a 13th and 14th season of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. The series, which just wrapped its 11th season, will now tie with The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet as the longest-running live-action comedy series in TV history. (The Simpsons claims the title for the longest-running prime-time comedy, 27 seasons thus far.)

The dark comedy’s 12th season will debut early next year.

“If anyone doubts the power of a camcorder and a dream, just look at It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, which was a DIY backyard pilot when Rob, Charlie and Glenn brought it to FX and will go down in TV history as one of the most loved and enduring comedies,” said Nick Grad, president of original programming for FX Networks, in a statement. “Few shows make it this far or have such devoted fans, and we owe it all to the creative vision and great humor of the creators and cast who keep Sunny fresh and inventive every season.”

Sunny is showing no ratings signs of slowing down. In its 11th season, which wrapped up last month, the show saw a 13 percent gain in total viewers — with 1.4 million viewers per episode — and ranked as cable’s No. 1 scripted comedy in adults 18–49 and adults 18–34 for the first few months of the year. Sunny moved from FX to FXX after season 8.
