UNITED STATES - JULY 10: Firefighters douse a blaze in the remnants of a building at 34 E. 62nd St., which was reduced to rubble by a natural gas explosion this morning. The owner of the building, Dr. Nicholas Bartha, 66, had recently sent his ex-wife a letter expressing his desire to kill himself because he was being forced to sell his beloved 4-story brownstone to settle their divorce. The blast left Bartha in critical condition at New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center with second and third-degree burns over 60% of his body and injured at least four pedestrians.
