Evan Helmuth, the actor known for his role in The Devil Inside, has died after complications related to a stroke, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. He was 40.
Helmuth’s most high-profile movie role was the lead in the 2012 horror movie The Devil Inside, in which he played Father David Keane. Most recently he also had a role in the 2013 biopic Jobs starring Ashton Kutcher.
His other notable film credits include Garfield and 2005’s Fever Pitch where he played the best friend of Jimmy Fallon’s baseball-obsessed character.
Television work formed the bulk of Helmuth’s acting credits, and he made appearances on a number of hit shows including Bones, NCIS, Rizzoli & Isles and more recently Perception and Battle Creek.
Helmuth was an alumnus of the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan and later attended the USC School of Dramatic Arts.
