The path to wellness will soon be paved by an AI health guru with the Thrive AI Health assistant, currently in the works of OpenAI and Arianna Huffington. Under Huffington's health technology firm, Thrive Global, the new AI health assistant would deliver a personalized approach to one's wellness needs, looking to help users with health-related concerns.

Apart from helping fund the new AI assistant, OpenAI will also share its generative AI models to enhance users' experiences.

OpenAI and Arianna Huffington's Thrive Global Partnership

OpenAI's Startup Fund and generative AI models will help power Arianna Huffington's Thrive AI Health coach under this partnership with Thrive Global. They will be led by DeCarlos Love, its CEO, who is fresh from his role as a product leader at Google.

Thrive AI Health will focus on five key daily behaviors: connection, food, fitness, sleep, and stress management.

OpenAI's AI Developments for Health and Wellness

For many years, OpenAI has proven that its generative AI models, a.k.a. LLMs, are adept in multiple aptitudes and fields, including the health sector. There was once a study using OpenAI's ChatGPT where it was made to answer the United States Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), to which it scored around 60 percent and was well within the passing threshold.

Other studies looked into ChatGPT alone's capabilities to answer medical-related questions, and it was seen to perform well, considering it is based on AI. In the 280 medical queries that the researchers asked the chatbot, it was able to accurately and correctly answer yes or no questions, with the designers of the questionnaire for AI giving it a 4.8 out of 5 score

Experts and professionals have long considered generative AI for health technology, and previous programs featuring OpenAI's LLM have brought significant progress in the industry. Thrive Global and Huffington want to leverage OpenAI's LLM for its Thrive AI Health, an upcoming personalized health coach for improved wellness.
