Nintendo could soon reportedly introduce a smiling man for the Switch with a newly released teaser for a creepy horror video game, Emio. Sources say Emio means to smile or laugh.

The 15-second teaser simply shows someone in a coat standing in an ominously lighted room, their face covered by a paper bag with a smiling expression drawn on it. Finally, a Japanese word appears on the screen, reading "smiling man."

Recent Nintendo products include Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Luigi's Mansion 2, and Super Monkey Ball: Banana Rumble, which is appropriate for adults and children.

This is why many were perplexed when Nintendo released a brief, cryptic video about what looked like a frightening horror game.

The Japanese wording appears on all trailer versions, including those marketed by Nintendo UK and Nintendo of America for the Nintendo Switch. The video is merely named Emio, and the caption is #WhoIsEmio.

This is the burning question on everyone's mind, as the trailer does not explain what it is about. A shop website for a game called Emio has also been built. However, it has little information beyond a frightening GIF of the masked man.

More surprises are expected for the Nintendo Switch, a console nearing the end of its lifespan and seemingly going down with a bang. The Switch's successor is set to be announced in early 2025.

The Nintendo Direct in June 2024 featured many new Switch titles, setting the stage for enthusiasm among gaming enthusiasts. It showcased new entries in popular series and previewed highly anticipated releases until 2025.

These announcements from Nintendo's Direct webcast promise a wide selection of experiences and challenges to entice players in the coming months.

Nintendo Direct began with a preview of the highly anticipated "Mario and Luigi: Brothership," an adventure featuring the popular plumbers.

The game, set to be released on November 7, promises an exhilarating island-hopping adventure full of old Nintendo charm. It's a lovely addition to the "The Legend of Zelda" franchise and the most massive "Mario Party" game yet.

Zelda's First Game

Nintendo also introduced "The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom," a new title in which players take on the character of Princess Zelda herself. This next edition, released on Switch on September 26, promises a gripping story set in Hyrule.

The Legend of Zelda-themed Nintendo Switch Lite, with a gorgeous Hyrule Edition design decorated with gold accents and Triforce artwork, will be released alongside the game. It will provide players with a fashionable new way to experience their adventures in Hyrule.
