Ace Plumbing & Rooter

Over the years, we've had a number of plumbers come to our home for various plumbing needs: clogged pipes, new fixtures installations, leaky faucets and hot water tank replacements. The plumbers I called were independent contractors who worked by themselves so they were essentially their own boss. Now, for the record, let me say that if I were any more laid back, I'd be in a coma. I have the patience of a Buddhist. With that in mind, I found these plumbers to be difficult to work with in that they seemed to have a dogmatic attitude about how each plumbing job should be accomplished. While I'm not a plumber, I would like to have some say about how a fixture might be placed or installed, but each of these plumbers was not receptive to my input. With each new plumber over the years, I found myself being very careful to approach the plumber in an oblique-like fashion, (and never a full frontal assault), with my plumbing needs/desires and would carefully frame my request to the plumber with ... "well, this is what I hope to accomplish on this plumbing job. My thinking towards plumbers had become jaded in that I felt they were prima donnas in the construction arts field. But then I found Ace Plumbing and Rooter Inc. and my experience with plumbers did an abrupt 180 degrees!

We had purchased a Toto Aquia IV toilet with Washlet S500E bidet toilet seat. This is a relatively new product on the market. I called Ace and explained that I would like to have their company install our new Toto toilet. Since the new product would be more complicated to install over a "regular" toilet, Ace first sent plumber Chris to our home to evaluate the installation needs. Having a plumber do an assessment before the actual install was a stellar idea, in my book, for which I give Ace Plumbing credit.

I took a shine to Chris right away. He was pleasant, courteous, and refreshingly unpretentious. After introducing himself, Chris asked me what he and Ace Plumbing could do to help meet my plumbing needs. Chris actually listened to me and all that I had to say about any potential problems involved in installing a new and potentially complicated appliance, before even looking at the plumbing job site in the bathroom. My faith in having an approachable plumber was beginning to be restored.

Well, Christ made his assessment and we arranged an install date. The Toto toilet presented Chris with a number of installing challenges, all of which Chris took in stride and overcame in a quiet, determined manner. When Chris was done, our new bidet toilet worked flawlessly (my derrière never had it so good).

Throughout my interaction with Chris, I came away with the distinct impression that both he and Ace Plumbing had a strong focus on making sure the customer was completely satisfied with the work. And to that end, Chis, and believe Ace, will go to great lengths to achieve and maintain customer satisfaction. Finally, I feel Ace Plumbing has exceptionally fair, honest and reasonable rates for their work. I feel very fortunate to have customer access to Ace Plumbing. We had an emergency clogged drain pipe right before we were going out of town. We immediately called Ace Plumbing from the good reviews. Ryan came out on time to help us resolve the problem. We had a nightmare situation! The toilet was clogged and sewage was filling the bathtub.
I called Ace at 11:30am on a Sunday morning and they had a guy out by noon!
It wasn't an easy fix. They quoted me a price and stuck by it even though the job ended up taking several hours to fix.

Competence, Protection, Professionalism, Efficiency

Competence:
Despite working in an unfamiliar 1923 building, the plumber, Jonny of Ace Plumbing and Rooter, demonstrated impressive knowledge by quickly identifying and turning off the correct water and boiler valves--something neither I nor any of the other 12 residents could have done!

Protection:
The plumber took great care in protecting the work area and surroundings. He used protective shoe coverings, ensuring cleanliness and respect for my home and removed all debris.

Professionalism:
Throughout the job, he communicated politely and clearly, keeping me informed every step of the way.
When I pointed out a minor problem that needed to be remedied, he handled it right away.

Efficiency:
When an unexpected part was needed, he knew exactly where to go nearby to get it, minimizing downtime and ensuring the job continued smoothly.

I highly recommend this plumber for any plumbing needs. His expertise and professionalism are truly top-notch.

Avoid at all costs. Sketchy business.

I called to ask for an assessment of a plumbing issue with a unit that is being rented out. I called Ace Plumbing 4x and asked for a quote multiple times. After the plumber stopped by in the morning, stating he would return, I called again to ask for a read out of what needed to be fixed and how much the estimated costs were. I never received a call back, informing me of when the plumber would return (given an active leak) and what needed to be replaced/repaired. I couldn't be there for the appointment so I called and spoke to the business multiple times to confirm that they would not proceed with work without calling to let me know what the issue was and to provide a quote.

Well...The plumber proceeded to tell the tenant that there wasn't an issue, something just had to be turned on, and specifically that he "wasn't going to charge". Lo and behold, I get a surprise invoice for $400 the next day that specifically states "Ace Plumbing will not proceed with any proposed change order until the change order has been approved/signed by the owner. Any additional work found necessary to complete the work will be discussed and approved by the owner." Well, they never discussed exactly what was fixed, they never called to provide a quote, and every time I email to billing department and call they have no idea what's going on. I very specifically did NOT approve any work. After more conversations than I can count, I've had multiple representatives tell me there isn't an issue and they'd drop the invoice.

It's now been 9 months and they continue to email me and send letters and call and harass me about a fraudulent invoice I never approved and that goes explicitly against what their plumber told us. I'm reporting them to the BBB and consumer protection agencies.

Highly recommend. Ace responded immediately to our issue, and Luis showed up right on time. Professional, courteous, knowledgeable, and reasonably priced.

Ryan did an amazing job fixing our backed up shower and toilet. He provided a reasonable estimate and went above and beyond to diagnose and correct the problem. He has amazing critical thinking skills and communicated all he was doing in a way I could understand. In addition, Ryan gave excellent advice for future care and prevention.

Carlos, Eddy, Ariel and Enrique did a great job! We had a crack in our clay sewer pipe from roots growing into it. Luckily, we were able replace it with a trenchless sewer line. We didn't have to break the whole driveway. They made 2 cuts along the existing concrete line (top of the drive and part of the sidewalk) to access our old sewer line. Carlos and the crew were very professional, prompt and very easy to work with. Everything from the new pipe, the concrete and driveway was done very clean and quick. We will definitely call Carlos at Ace Plumbing and Rooter in future if we have any plumbing issues. Thank you again!

Friendly and professional. The leak was fixed promptly. The plumber took the time to explain what caused the problem and how to prevent it in the future. Excellent service.

The last thing I expected to be doing before the upcoming 4th of July was to deal with a leaking water heater.

So I requested Ace Plumbing to take a look and let me know if it could be repaired.

Oscar promptly arrived within 15 minutes, took one look at it and told me, my dude it's time to replace it.

He helped me select the best replacement for my needs and came back the next day with my new water heater in tow.

The quality of this new water heater is pretty awesome. I had forgotten what it felt like for the shower water to warm up in 5 minutes or less and continue to stay warm for more than 10 minutes before getting ice cold.

As for the value, considering the time and effort both Oscar and Francisco took to make sure the new water heater was properly set up and operational, I'd say I got my money's worth.
