A bit underwhelming, considering there weren't any signs or indication it was Anne Rice's House when you arrived. Most of it was under construction so you couldn't appreciate the beauty of it. I wouldn't recommend planning your day around a visit to this house, but the surround neighborhood did have some beautiful homes.

Beautiful house with a lot of history. Sanitarium, Ann Rice's home for many years, then (briefly?) owned by Nic Cage, apparently.
Well worth a stop and a photo opp. It would be amazing if this became a full on tourist stop with a museum and gift shop for all things Ann Rice--books, limited editions, manuscripts, etc....Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 12160290Nov 8, 2021
No reason the mark down the stars since it's just a house on a block. It's an unassuming home for the famous author and now the address numbers have been removed and the color of the house changed as well. If you didn't have these references pics you'd wonder if you were looking at the correct house.
Cool that you get to see the home she lived in and it's unclear if she still does but there are TONS of security cameras along the side of the house so someone is living there.
Explore the neighborhood, Lafayette Cemetery is walking distance and all can be reached from the trolly like so it's a great place to walk, quietly exploring and see beautiful neighborhoods.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - B. Nutz H.Sacramento, CA8089271402May 8, 2019
I read that Ann no longer owns this house and moved out of it in 2005
This is the former home of the historical novelist Ann Rice whom brought us interview with a vampire. Such a pretty home in the heart of the upper garden district. At the time we had gone the house was having some scaffolding being done on the side of the house.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jan 14, 2019
I love a good mystery. I love a good thriller. I just adore that Ann Rice brought back the thrill of the vampires and unknown.
While the esteemed Ms Rice has currently stepped away from the macabre, her presence is still a huge part of the New Orleans family of thrills and chills.
I would have loved to have had a chance to of met and chatted with her, but opted for a view of her home.
New Orleans is filled with wonderful history, and this is definitely a huge part of that history. Add this to your things to do for free while in New Orleans!Helpful 51Thanks 0Love this 46Oh no 0 - Dominik D.Shreveport, LA321595711116Dec 29, 2019
A fairly nice house in a pretty nice neighborhood. It's a quiet walk at night, fit for introspection. Which may explain Rice's success as a writer.

In the beautiful historic district. Short walk from the above ground cemetery and small shopping plaza. Felt kind of bad taking pics of the house but glad i did in the end. Worth the walk.
