New Orleans' only five "A" restaurant. Atchafalaya restaurant is the perfect choice for those wanting a memorable meal in a historic and enchanting setting. Locals and tourists alike, return often for our, contemporary creole cuisine, attentive service, warm hospitality, and expertly crafted cocktails. We feature live music and a "bloody mary bar" during our Sat./Sun brunches.

One of the BEST restaurants in NOLA for fun date night or intimate gatherings with a few friends - Nicolette E.San Jose, CA322196218Aug 10, 2024
Another delicious eat in New Orleans. My partner really fell in love with fried green tomatoes, thanks to this restaurant. We had brunch reservations in this very cozy spot, and had a wonderful time here.
Service was top tier, fine dining level honestly. We ordered the fried green tomatoes which were cooked to perfection, and topped with ikura and some sort of aioli. We also got the roasted duck(?) sweet potato hash, and a gumbo that I'm forgetting the exact name of. I'm seeing some photos online of a blue cheese flan that I missed out on! Would love to try that next time.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 13, 2024Updated review1 check-in

Highlights:
Fried Brussel Sprouts: 10/10
Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich: 9/10
Pineapple Upside Down Waffle: 8/10
Deviled Egg: 8/10
Smoke Gulf Fish: 7/10
The brussels were awesome, some of the best we've ever had. The fried chicken sandwich was amazing. I've never had gochujang, but the gochujang syrup that coated my chicken filet was deelish. The pickled peppers were a great accompaniment. I could see the addition of pickled peppers to chicken sandwiches as quick service restaurants continue to differentiate their offerings. I didn't eat all of my sandwich, and it was just as good the next day out of the air fryer. Some of my fries, though, tasted a little scorched. They had a great crispy texture and were nicely seasoned.
The pineapple upside down waffle had a good flavor from the brandy. I figured it wasn't going to be crispy, but I was hoping for a syrupy pineapple like a traditional cake. Instead, this version had pineapple chunks sprinkled over the waffle. The pineapple felt like an afterthought and not truly incorporated into the dish. Also, the whipped cream could've been sweeter.
I thought the deviled egg was good, but my wife didn't care for the switcheroo. This wasn't their traditional deviled egg. This version had kimchi. The chicharron also tasted stale and wasn't crunchy. I had a taste of my wife's smoked gulf fish and liked it, but she thought it was just ok.
Opportunities:
It was very warm in the restaurant. I don't know if the air conditioning wasn't working, but the host, our server, and us were all sweating.
Our server was slowww. I'll be nice and not share his name. It took forever to receive our complimentary bread service and drinks. In addition, since it was so warm, my wife wanted cold, ice water; the water we were served at the beginning of the meal was lukewarm. Our server went awol, and we had to wait a while to get that water.Jul 18, 2021Previous reviewWe finally got the opportunity to try Atchafalaya yesterday and it was worth the wait. I won't bury the lead story as it was awesome. My wife and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and we added the restaurant to our weekend itinerary. When we arrived, it was pouring rain, so I called the restaurant to see if I could check in from my car. They allowed me to do just that and they called me about 10 minutes later to tell me that our table was ready. Loving the customer service already.
We were given complimentary mini corn muffins at the start of the meal. They were delicious. So good, we ordered a second helping. They were light, golden, moist, with crunchy edges. Exactly how a corn muffin should be. The muffins were served with chive-infused butter which made for an excellent pairing. Yummy. It was a nice departure from the typical loaf of bread or basket of rolls, not that I don't appreciate either. We ordered the crab raviolo, chicken & waffle, and built a meal from a la carte sides (creamy cheese grits, bacon, english muffin, waffle and sunny side eggs).
The raviolo was scrumptious, exceeding our expectations. The garbage Chef Boyardee produces is blasphemous. This raviolo was moist and delicate, full of lump crabmeat and so flavorful. The chicken was tossed in a honey buffalo sauce and was made with thigh meat. I think all chicken tenders should be made from the thigh. It was moist and hot and spicy with a crispity crunch. The waffle was golden brown and had a nice flavor, but the maple syrup was finger-licking good. I asked Debbie for the brand, but she couldn't share it, but I don't think she knew anyway. The jam served with the english muffin was top notch. We we too full to even try the english muffins, so we decided to take them home to enjoy later. They gave my wife like 6 slices of bacon and not the typical 2-3 slices. The bacon had a good flavor, but it was on the hard side. The grits were creamy, but needed more salt, which was an easy fix. The deviled egg was one of the best things I've ever put in my mouth. It was light and seasoned well. The crispy pork skin garnishment was tasty and different.
Carly was our server for brunch and she was on her game. Like a surgeon executing with precision, Carly paid attention to detail and kept us informed throughout our visit. She was professional and personable. Debbie, who packed our to-go boxes, was fun and playful. I bet she makes for a great server too.
The live music was cool and the dining room was bright, airy and full of Michalopoulos paintings, which were cool to look at. We can't wait to go again. I want to try the oysters, eggs louisianne and brussel sprouts. - May 28, 2024
One of the best meals I've had in NOLA in a long time. The space is cozy and our waitress was an absolute joy.
We didn't have any starters but the corn bread and herd butter were perfection.
I ordered the pork chop which was cooked to perfection and the broth was absolutely delicious.
My dinner mates ordered the duck and filets and they were also very pleased.
Of the desserts the tres leches and blue cheese flan really stood out the lemon tart was underwhelming.
Will absolutely be back and take my visiting friends.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 28, 2024
Hands down the best breakfast spot in New Orleans! May I dare say the best breakfast place that I have ever visited
The service was phenomenal! Our waiters Louis & Perry really made sure we were well taken care of & had the most amazing suggestions for food & drinks.
The restaurant itself is very elegant and bright. With a vibe that makes you feel right at home.
The food was out of this world! The green tomatoes have a nice bite to them with a great sauce. But, in my opinion the Chicken & Waffles were the star of the show! The waffle was airy but yet sweet. The chicken was seasoned perfectly and really complimented the waffle. The grits were by far the best I have had in New Orleans & the Breakfast Sweet Potatoes were savory but yet sweet & blew me away!
My partner had the Shrimp & Grits and thoroughly enjoyed them .Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mark B.Palatine, IL8289Aug 6, 2024
From the cocktails to the soup, deviled eggs, my buddies duck hash and my shrimp and grits, there wasn't a single thing we didn't love and I will for sure be back. The cocktail manager was awesome and he made us many tasty cocktails and introduced us to a few gems we didn't know about liquor wise.

For our last meal on our week-long New Orleans vacation, we dined at Atchafalaya for brunch at noon on an April Thursday. Sitting outside, here's our experience.
1) Food: The menu is impressive. It's a bit pricey, but worth it for quality food. To feed four of us, we split the fried green tomatoes, deviled eggs, and crab eggs Benedict. Our seven-year-old daughter got the chicken tenders with veggies from the kids menu. Everything was well flavored and balanced and each had a kick like the kimchi in the deviled eggs. To start, they bring out complimentary corn muffins with butter.
2) Drinks: We enjoyed their seasonal mimosas with strawberries.
3) Service: Attentive from start to finish and friendly.
4) Space: With a giant cast iron skillet on its side, it's a beautiful space with indoor and outdoor seating.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Feb 24, 2024
We were on a Garden Tour, and Atchafalaya was quite nearby. The menu seemed to offer great options, so we decided to stop in for brunch. I highly recommend you to make a reservation as it seemed quite busy, and I imagine the location and live jazz music are what make it quite attractive as well.
Upon walking in, the service was top notch, from the host, to our server, everyone was extremely attentive and welcoming. Once we sat, we loved that we were able to sit a bit further from the live music, but we could still hear it through the entire restaurant, and we really enjoyed that.
Upon reviewing the menu, I knew what I wanted! Deviled eggs, shrimp and grits, and chicken and waffles! we were curious about the deviled eggs for brunch, since they were prepared with kimchi, furikake, and chicharrón. So we ordered them, and they were one of the best deviled eggs I've ever had. Something I may even try to make at home. The texture was creamy as you would expect, but with an elevated bite with the crunchy chicharrón and the brightness that the kimchi added. Quite a craveable taste in fact.
The shrimp and grits are unforgettable! Great texture on the grits, wonderful generous portion, and a mouthful of flavor! With just the right amount of spice, and I was fully satisfied, I only finished half the dish.
The chicken and waffles is beautifully plated, also generously portioned, and full of flavor! The gravy drizzled over the chicken, with bits of ham, balanced the dish, and paired perfectly well with the maple syrup. Highly recommend if you're in the mood for something hearty and full of flavor.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Feb 22, 2024

Corn bread: this was given at no extra charge. Super fresh &you only need a tint of butter (5/5)
Deviled eggs: an interesting combination & prob the best deviled eggs I've had. (5/5)
Duck hash: wow! Perfect portion. Eggs perfectly cooked. My boyfriend said that's the best hash (5/5)
Shrimp and grits: loaded with flavor & just the perfect portion (5/5)
Blue cheese flan: it sounds gross, but amazing! My boyfriend was skeptical cause he doesn't like blue cheese but he was highly impressed! (100/5)
Hope my reviews can convince you to book this place!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Feb 5, 2024
We saved Atchafalya for our last night. It's in a great old New Orleans house with lovely artwork and relaxing lighting. Not a good spot if your mobility is limited, with stairs everywhere! We skipped cocktails, because we had visited the Club Room at our hotel prior, but I did have a glass of the Red Tail Ridge rosé, which paired perfectly with my dinner, and V had the Cade Sauvignon Blanc, very dry.
What we ordered:
Started with
Free-Form Blue Crab Raviolo $20.00
shiitake mushroom, spinach, mascarpone, citrus beurre blanc. 4.5*. It doesn't look like much, but the crab was sweet and a bit briny - a great match up with mushrooms and citrus.
I had the Glazed Duck Leg Confit $29.00
Covey Rise three bean cassoulet, broccolini, smoked cherry tomatoes, orange honey glaze, grits with duck cracklin gremolata. 4.5*. The duck was perfectly cooked, but slighly oversalted. The grits were so creamy rich and luxurious.
V had the Lowcountry Shrimp & Grits $30.00
andouille, trinity, smoked cherry tomatoes, 4.5 Creole-spiced shrimp broth. She was blown away. I tasted the shrimp. exceptional texture, pops with juice when you bite.
Service was a little slow at times, but exceedingly warm. This is not a tourist place; it's the real deal and a great treat.
