I'd give Calvey HVAC 10 stars if I could for their exceptionally professional installation and customer service. Michael was honest and straight forward regarding the options for a new HVAC system, listening to what we needed and were looking for, and giving us suggestions that met our requirements without judgement. He is very personable, upbeat, friendly, and honest person to work with. Our new HVAC was installed about two months into the coronavirus pandemic during the first week or so that some businesses were allowed to open. Our house has an open floor plan without walls to separate those of us in the house from Calvey's team. They took great care to follow all of the state health guidelines, which gave us a sense of ease with a crew in our house for several days during the pandemic. They created a floor-to-ceiling wall of plastic to create separation, installed a temporary sink for them to wash hands outside, and wore masks all the time. They also wore booties whenever they were in the house (as opposed to working outside). Every day they thoroughly cleaned up where they had worked. The crew were very professional and knew their stuff. Antonio aptly explained different things we asked about. I highly, highly recommend Calvey Heating & Air. (BTW, I selected them from reading all the five-star reviews of their service. I'm really pleased to add my own!)

Worked with Johnny Deluna on installing 2 dual fuel heat pump systems. I interviewed 4-5 other contractors before choosing Calvey. I must say they came up with the best design that allowed me to have a flexible and highly performant system. Their price was very competitive too. Overall their design was better and more cost effective because Johnny didn't try to sell me things that I didn't need and I really liked the honest and transparent approach. Additionally Johnny found the ideal placement of the external units that not only passed inspections without issues but also are positioned well with respect to the outdoor space (no other companies proposed this solution).

We encountered some issues after installation, but I must say that Johnny and his crew were very responsive and took care of solving any issue I encountered with the system. After using it for almost 2 months we're very happy with the end result.

I hired separate contractors to remove my asbestos lined ducts. Calvey then replaced with new ducts and updated my home's original gravity air furnace with a forced air low efficiency gas furnace. My house is in San Francisco.

The experience was not the smoothest but I was happy with the level of service.

Negatives
- took three or four attempts over several months to pass city inspection and get the permits approved
- related to above, didn't seem super familiar with SF's requirements for passing inspection (e.g. separate building and plumbing permits were needed for replacing the ducts versus furnace)

Positives
- Not pushy about what to replace my original furnace with, helpful on the best past forward
- Work was 95% completed relatively quickly (by Johnny Deluna's crew)
- For the last 5% that was failing the inspection, Calvey did take responsibility and followed through with scheduling fixes and additional permit inspections without charging more. Shoutout to Izabella for handling things on the Calvey side.
- Price was competitive versus the three other quotes I received

More of their business seemed to be outside of the city, so something to be aware of if you're looking for contractors to do permitted HVAC work in SF. You may end up taking longer than expected to get everything to city standards.

Unreliable company. They set up an appointment and never show up nor do they call to notify.

Excellent communication by email & text - Eddie showed up inside the 1 hour window promised beforehand and quickly diagnosed my unit - I had a bad capacitor. Before I knew it, the repair was completed and my AC unit was back up & running. Great service and I recommend Calvey with 5 stars !

The senior Calvey Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC ) technician named Eddie Read was very efficient, professional, courteous and serviced our furnace and checked on our air conditioning unit too. He even went out of his way and helped me program the Nest app too so I can control it from my phone . I wish all technicians that I will be dealing with are like Eddie Read. I highly recommend Calvey HVAC and I am also giving them

I had a great experience with Calvey installing an air conditioner. Johnny was very honest during the on-site visit in assessing what kind of cooling system would make the most sense for me given my current setup and the potential costs over time. The estimate from Calvey was by far the most reasonable out of all the quotes I got, and the team was patient in answering all of my questions.

On installation day, Sergio and Ernesto were punctual, professional, efficient, and tidy. My A/C was up and running just in time for a warm May day! I already have duct cleaning also scheduled with Calvey and look forward to having them as my go-to for everything HVAC.

I don't like to post negative reviews, but I needed to in this case.
I called to schedule an appointment to fix HVAC issues that were called out in a home inspection report, where the inspector recommended that an HVAC company diagnose and do the repairs. Person answering phone didn't ask any questions and just said I should call a handyman. The problem I have is NOT something a handyman should fix. They probably have too much business and don't want to take the time to find out what people need.

I contacted Calvey via Yelp after hours for an AC issue (not cooling) on a Thursday night, and a rep got back to me just after they opened at 7am the following morning. They were able to schedule a technician to come out on Monday to diagnose our AC unit. They also sent an appointment confirmation by email and then a reminder the night before.

The technician, Salvador, communicated by SMS when he was on his way, arrived on time, was very courteous, professional, and experienced. He clearly explained everything he was checking, identified a problem immediately and replaced the part, refilled the coolant in the system because the pressure was low, discussed with me the possibility of a leak, and recommended a preventative maintenance. Salvador made me feel very comfortable with the work he was doing and established a good level of trust. I asked him about potentially installing an additional split AC unit for one room in our house with some particular cooling needs, and he was able to make a recommendation on the size and model, installation location, and provide a written estimate by email.

Overall I am very happy with Calvey and Salvador and will definitely be following up with them for the preventative maintenance and leak investigation and like the split system as well. Highly recommended!
