The ambiance here is always so lovely as is the food. My friends and I loved what food we got for lunch - I opted for a Creole banquette bread and the soup du jour. It was this seafood coconut milk? soup with rice which was so flavorful I'm glad I inquired. The bread is crispy and light, really a good combo. My friends loved the Rico, especially with the mango vinaigrette, and the pan con chicharrón subbing the pork for gulf fish. They have such an array of interesting fruit juices that taste natural and bright which I recommend checking out.

Yes it has so many different cuisines on the menu, however they are all very well executed and flavorful unlike many places that just try to showcase variety but fail miserably. The pricing is really fair and food is great - I also love the multitude of options for GF, vegan, and vegetarians. I cannot recommend this place more.

      Excellent customer service.

Vegan options...make this an amazing option! Had the Peruano with vegan sausage, Trifongo, rum walnut cake and Graviola...everything but the Trifongo was exceptional and the Trifongo was decent, I just have never had it fully impress me except when it's made by someone's Puerto Rican abuela. All my selections were plant based and the walnut cake was even GF.

The ambience was festive and inviting, part romantic date energy, part company dinners with colleagues from work.

This is a great food experience, especially if you want to expand beyond the standard Naw'lins fare.

      Solid 4 out of 5.

Ambiance was nice as evidenced by the photo. They allowed us to bring our dog inside given the thunderstorms outside.

Overall food was great. The fish in the day was a snapper and it was absolutely delicious. Had a mayo and a soy sauce type accompaniment. The tiradito was with King salmon and had this amazing ponzu sauce that made it salty with umami.

We ordered the Pisco sour and Carmo Old Fashion. Pisco sour was concocted nicely. It was strong and probably one of the best my wife has had. The Old Fashion was supposed to have banana liquer with notes of chocolate but it just tasted like a normal Old Fashion to me.

Service was ok. We waited for about 10 min after we sat down before someone took our orders which is why I gave this a 4/5.

We dined on a Wednesday evening around 8:30pm with a larger work group. The restaurant was not busy but not completely empty. I absolutely loved the atmosphere! Even though most of the restaurant is indoors due to large open windows and doors and really high ceilings it almost feels as if you are dining outside. The walls are covered with beautifully mismatched Caribbean artwork.

Our server was very nice and knowledgeable about the menu but he did appear to be either distracted or busy as we were not greeted quickly and had to ask to place orders for drinks and then they took a while. HOWEVER, he may have had tables on the other side of the restaurant that we did not see. We were seated close to the bar and the bartenders were very lively and fun. If I dined here again, I likely would've sat at the bar. Speaking of the bar, my drink was artfully prepared (I watched a bartender squeeze lime juice to order, CRAZY). It was tropical and fruity without being extremely sweet.

I order the Peruvian ceviche and a side of white beans. The ceviche was good, but I would've loved a bit more flavor. The beans were absolutely delicious and were an excellent savory contrast to the light citrusy flavor of the ceviche.

While I think that some of my party was annoyed by the slightly slow service, I really enjoyed by visit at Carmo and have added to my list of places to bring my friends whenever I'm in town again!

This menu is around the world in 15 seconds. They have everything from paratha to mofongo to American club sandwiches.

The trifongo was really good with a heaping amount of smoked pork atop smashed plantains. Really worthwhile. Great option too for any vegans, since they have a vegan rice and beans (I'm assuming beans are often cooked with pork).

Really spacious so you'll have no problem finding seating.

This place is listed as the #1-rated place with vegan options on HappyCow that isn't an all-vegan place. But I don't get it. The food was passable at best, poor value for the price, and middling at best in terms of quality.

My wife & I visited around 8pm for dinner on a Tuesday. The place was pretty full, but we were seated quickly. We split 3 items:

-Broken noodle salad (small; $9) -- this supposedly came with noodles and tofu (which I didn't see any of in the salad), along with peas, carrots, peanuts, and cabbage, dressed in a simple, sweet, vinegary dressing. This was a pathetic, sad salad. Rather insulting to be served this and charged $9. 1/5

-Vegan rico ($19) -- kidney beans and vegan mince meat, served over plantains, with avocado, salsa and a few salad leaves on the salad. Not terrible, but a very small portion and nothing special. 2/5

-Curry of the day ($19) -- this was a yellow curry, but pretty sad and, again, a small portion. There were some veggies, served over rice, with a mushy curry. 2/5

Service was passable at best -- disinterested and oblivious.

How this place has such high ratings I do not understand. Do people in NoLA have low standards? This place was simply not good.

We were really hoping to like this place but were so disappointed on so many things. After seating, we were not offered any drinks menu and when we asked the staff serving us, she casually mentioned ya we have some juices. We had to spell out for her to bring out the menu. I asked her specifically if the juice was fresh and promptly she answered yes, and came back with our order in less than two minutes! I would love to know how they made two fresh juices in less than two minutes! The food was below average, the noodle salad has very hard tofu and the Kathi roll was not what it should be! The worst part of all, we came here because it was popular for vegetarian and vegan, we had a staff skinning a big raw fish right next to where we were seated ending the entire dining experience on a bad note. We rushed out without finishing our meal!

We were so hungry I forgot to take pics of the food but we had the most delicious vegetarian lunch! Hubby and I ordered the broken noodle salad and I had the vegetarian ceviche with quinoa and avocado. Both dishes were incredibly flavorful and felt so light but nourishing. Lovely vibe, nice display of artwork inside. Also appreciate that they compost and recycle in addition to using biodegradable materials, a rarity in the south.

My companions and I came for a weeknight dinner during one of the hottest weeks in NOLA. This was highly recommended by a local. The space was artsy and inviting, staff were friendly. It was definitely warm in the building, but I imagine this is a great spot on a beautiful day with the front open. Creole bread was absolutely delicious - our favorite dish! The Mofongo Ceviche dish was very good, and just as good as any I've had in Puerto Rico. The Broken Noodle salad was tasty and refreshing. There were quite a few vegetarian/pescatarian items I'd love to try. This was a great veggie friendly option just outside of the city center, and worth another visit!
